Zen Technologies Launches AI-powered Robot for Global Defence Market

  • Zen Technologies, an anti-drone technology and defence training solutions provider, in collaboration with its subsidiary AI Turing Technologies introduced the AI-powered robot Prahasta, among other products, for the global defence market.
  • Prahasta is an automated quadruped that uses LiDAR (light detection and ranging) and reinforcement learning to understand and create real-time 3D terrain mapping for unparalleled mission planning, navigation, and threat assessment.

AI Hub Inaugurated at ENC in Visakhapatnam

  • As part of the Indian Navy's efforts to imbibe cutting-edge technologies, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Experience Hub was inaugurated by Vice-Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, at the Maritime Reference Library in Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh .
  • The AI hub is equipped with AI tools and applications to enthuse personnel to take advantage of the transformational advances in artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to foster exposure, learning, and encourage germination and follow-up of used cases across multiple domains.

Indian Air Force Participation in Exercise Pitch Black 2024

  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in Exercise Pitch Black 2024, hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) at their Base Darwin, Australia. This biennial, multi-national exercise, scheduled from July 12 to August 2, 2024, represents a crucial platform for enhancing international military cooperation and showcasing air combat capabilities.

DRDO Awards 7 New Projects to Industries under Technology Development Fund Scheme

  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) awarded seven new projects to industries under the Technology Development Fund scheme for various requirements of the Armed Forces and aerospace and defence sectors. Defence Ministry said these project sanctions are a testimony to the continuing endeavour of DRDO in nurturing Industries, especially MSMEs and start-ups, in defence and aerospace domains.
  • The sanctioned projects include the development of Ice Detection Sensors for Aircraft, Underwater Launched Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Long-range remotely operated vehicles for detection and neutralisation. The Ministry said, the Indigenous development of these technologies will strengthen the military-industrial ecosystem.

  • Lt Gen Narayan's journey in military medicine began with his enrolment in the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, where he was part of the 1982 ('U') batch. This institution, known for producing some of India's finest military medical professionals, laid the foundation for his remarkable career.

Colombo Security Conclave: India, other Nations Officially Welcome Bangladesh as 5th Member

  • Bangladesh was officially welcomed as the fifth Member State of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC), a grouping that includes India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and the Maldives.
  • India, Mauritius, Maldives and Sri Lanka welcomed Bangladesh into the grouping at the 8th Deputy National Security Adviser (DNSA) level meeting hosted virtually by Mauritius. Seychelles participated as an Observer State at the meeting.
  • At the meeting India was represented by Pankaj Kumar Singh, Deputy National Security Adviser (Internal Affairs), Bangladesh was represented by Lt. Gen. Mizanur Rahman Shameem, Principal Staff Officer, Armed Forces Division, Prime Minister's Office, Maldives was represented by Major General (Retd.) Hameed Shafeeg, Deputy National Security Adviser, Mauritius was represented by Yoidhisteer Thecka, Principal Coordinator Security Matters in the Prime Minister's Office, Sri Lanka by General LHSC Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Seychelles was represented by Lt Col Michael Hollanda, Commander of Land Force, Seychelles Defence Forces and CSC Secretariat by Acting Secretary Commodore A. D. Weerasinghe.

Azerbaijan Army Participates in "Birlestik-2024" Joint Military Exercises in Kazakhstan

  • Azerbaijan Army servicemen have arrived in Kazakhstan to take part in the "Birlestik-2024" operational-tactical command-staff exercise. This joint military drill, scheduled from July 11 to July 17, will be conducted at the Oymasha training ground and Cape Tokmak in the Caspian Sea. The exercise is part of a collaborative effort between the Defense Ministries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
  • Azerbaijan's contingent includes commando units from the Land Forces, Parachute descent and search-rescue service personnel, Su-25 aircraft from the Air Force, and patrol and descent ships from the Navy.
  • The "Birlestik-2024" exercise aims to enhance regional cooperation and readiness by simulating joint operational scenarios. Approximately 4,000 military personnel and 700 pieces of military equipment will be involved, focusing on coordinating a unified response to localise armed conflicts in the region.
