DG SSB Daljit Singh Chawdhary Takes Over Additional Charge of Director General, BSF
Daljit Singh Chawdhary, the Director General of Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB), took over the additional charge of Director General Border Security Force.
Daljit Singh Chawdhary is a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Police Service, Uttar Pradesh cadre. He assumed the charge of DG SSB on January 23, 2024. In his 34 years of service, he has served in different capacities in Uttar Pradesh and also has the privilege of serving on Central Deputation since 2017, as ADG in Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and as SDG in Central Reserve Police Force.

INS Tabar Completes MPX with Russian Ship Soobrazitelny
Indian Navy's frontline frigate, INS Tabar, was in St. Petersburg, Russia, and participated in the 328th Russian Navy Day Parade celebrations. This visit aimed to strengthen the longstanding maritime cooperation and friendship between India and Russia.
INS Tabar successfully conducted a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with the Russian Navy's ship Soobrazitelny. The exercise included a series of complex naval maneuvers such as communication drills, search and rescue tactics, and replenishment at sea operations.
The participation of INS Tabar in both the Navy Day Parade and the MPX highlights a significant milestone in the maritime relationship between India and Russia. It underscores the commitment of both nations to maintaining peace, stability, and security in the region.

'Tarang Shakti', Largest Multilateral Air Exercise in India, to be Held in 2 Phases in Aug-Sept
Air forces from the US, Germany, France and several other countries will take part in 'Tarang Shakti', the largest multilateral air exercise in India that will showcase the country's defence prowess and provide a platform to participating forces to foster interoperability.
First phase of 'Tarang Shakti' will be held at Sulur in Tamil Nadu from August 6-14, and the second phase from August 29-September 14 at Rajasthan's Jodhpur.
Russia and Israel will not be participating in the exercise. These two countries are India's defence partners.
Fifty-one countries were invited to take part in the exercise and nearly 30 of them will be taking part in it.
The first part will be conducted in Sulur area in south India, and this phase will see four countries , Germany, France, Spain and the UK, with their assets.
Phase two will be held at Jodhpur and that will see participation from Australia, Bangladesh, Greece, Singapore, the UAE and the US with their assets. Along with that there will be 18 countries which will be sending observers and not their air assets.

Indian Armed Forces Gets the First Woman Director General of Medical Service
Lieutenant General Sadhna Saxena Nair became the first woman to be appointed the Director General of Medical Services. She is also the first woman to serve as the Director of General Hospital Services (Armed Forces) as well as the first woman to be the Principal Medical Officer of the Western Air Command.
Previously, Lt Gen Nair was nominated as an expert member of the prestigious Dr Kasturirangan Committee for drafting part of the medical education component of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2019.
For her meritorious service, she has been awarded the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Western Air Command (WAC) as well as the Vishisht Seva Medal by the Hon'ble President of India.

Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera took over as the 22nd Director General of the Assam Rifles known by the sobriquet of 'Sentinels of the North-East'.
He has varied and rich professional experience of Assam Rifles and the North East region, having served extensively in North East including being Inspector General in Assam Rifles at Nagaland.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) launched its new 'Suvidha Software Version 1.0' during the inaugural 'Annual Operational Sea Training Conference' held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This advanced software aims to improve training protocols and maintain consistency across all ICG platforms.
Deputy Director General (Sea Training) Inspector General Anupam Rai highlighted the significance of cultivating a culture of excellence and adaptability within the ICG during his keynote speech.
The conference featured active participation from senior officers across various ICG regions. It emphasised the need for a unified approach to complex operations, provided a platform for discussing best practices, and facilitated the alignment of strategies to address the evolving maritime security challenges.
