'Captain Cool', who has a staggering win percentage of 60.11, pipped Rohit Sharma, who has led Mumbai Indians to a record four titles.
Dhoni has led CSK to eight finals, the most by any captain in the IPL.
Besides Rohit, Dhoni also faced stiff competition from Gautam Gambhir who helped KKR bag two titles. Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist and David Warner were also a part of the elite nominee list.

IPL 2020 Suspended Until Further Notice Due To Covid-19
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has been suspended indefinitely due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed. This comes on the heels of extension of lockdown in the country.
The IPL 2020, which was scheduled to get underway on March 29, was initially suspended until April 15 after the country went on a 21-day lockdown in a bid to limit the spread of the novel corona virus outbreak.

India To Host The 2020 Asian Boxing Championships
India will host the 2020 edition of the Asian Boxing Championships, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) announced.
The national federation president Ajay Singh shared the news with the stakeholders during their review meeting while later taking to Twitter for the public announcement.
