Australia Restrict Use of Saliva, Sweat to Shine Ball Under Covid-19 Guidelines

Australia will not allow the use of saliva or sweat to shine the ball once cricket training resumes in the post-COVID-19 world, says a framework released by the federal government regarding the staged return of sports amid the pandemic.
There is speculation that the use of saliva to shine the ball will be stopped to cut down the risk of the highly contagious infection with reports suggesting that the ICC is considering the possibility of allowing the use of artificial substances to polish the red ball under the supervision of umpires.

India Loses Hosting Rights of 2021 Men's World Boxing Championships

The world boxing body (AIBA) has cancelled India's hosting rights of of the 2021 men's world boxing championship. Serbia's capital Belgrade has been given the hosting rights.
The world boxing body is under suspension from the International Olympic Committee and has been barred from organising the Tokyo Olympics competition.

Middle Distance Runner Khatun Handed 4-Year Ban For Dope Flunk

Middle distance runner Jhuma Khatun has been banned for four years by the Athletics Integrity Unit of the world governing body for testing positive for a banned substance -- steroid -- in a nearly two-year-old doping case which the NDTL had failed to detect.
The 31-year-old Khatun's dope sample collected during the National Inter-State Championships in June 2018 in Guwahati returned negative when it was tested by the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL).
Khatun had won a bronze each in 1500m and 5000m in that Guwahati meet

Olympic Doubles Silver Medallist Boe Announces Retirement From Badminton

Former doubles world number one Mathias Boe of Denmark has announced his retirement from badminton at the age of 39.
Boe, silver medallist in the men's doubles at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, had been the oldest active player at elite level.
One of Denmark's most accomplished doubles players, Boe also won two European titles and two medals at the World Championships.

Former Pakistan skipper Sana Mir announces retirement from international cricket

Former Pakistan women's skipper Sana Mir announced her retirement from international cricket, ending a 15 year long illustrious career.
Mir featured in 226 international matches for Pakistan, including 137 as captain from 2009 to 2017.
The right-handed batter made her ODI debut against Sri Lanka in Karachi in December 2005, while her last ODI was against Bangladesh in Lahore in November 2019.

Cricket To Consider Legalised Ball-Tampering In Wake Of Coronavirus

Coronavirus may force the busting of one of cricket's greatest taboos, as authorities consider the possibility of allowing the use of artificial substances to help polish the red ball under the supervision of umpires in long-form matches, in order to end the need for player to do so with saliva.
The problem posed by the use of saliva to polish the ball is understood to be among the items raised by the ICC's medical committee to be addressed before cricket can resume, meaning that lateral thinking is required to allow bowlers and teams to continue to find effective ways to shine the ball to help encourage conventional or reverse swing.
