Patanjali's Coronil, 1st 'proof-based' drug to fight Covid, gets govt nod

Yoga guru Ramdev released a research paper by Haridwar-based Patanjali Research Institute on the "first evidence-based ayurvedic medicine" against the coronavirus disease, Coronil.
Ramdev's Patanjali had last year brought out its medicine against Covid-19. Union health minister Harsh Vardhan and Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari were also present at the event.
Coronil has now received certification from Ayush Ministry as per World Health Organization (WHO) certification scheme.

ICAI Seeks Name Change to Institute of Cost and Managament Accountants of India

The Institute of Cost Accountants of India has appealed to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to rename the institute to The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India.
"All over the world, our profession is known as Cost and Management Accountants, therefore the request. With the passage of time, we have proved that we have expertise in Cost and Management Accountancy, GST, taxation matters and many of our members hold senior positions in the industry," Biswarup Basu, President-ICAI, said.

Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting on the Legal Aspects of COVID-19 Held

Shri Anoop Kumar Mendiratta, Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, on behalf of Union Minister for Law & Justice Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, represented India in the Commonwealth High Level Law Ministers Meeting on the Legal aspects of COVID-19.
The meeting, chaired by the Law Minister of Sri Lanka, was organised in virtual mode by Commonwealth Secretariat on 18th February, 2021.
The event provided an opportunity to the Law Ministers to share views and experiences on solutions to key legal challenges that have arisen as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The meeting was focused on ensuring equal access to justice for all, upholding the rule of law in the fight against COVID-19 and legal barriers to equitable access to essential medicines.

Third Edition of Indian Sign Language Dictionary Released

The ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment released the third edition of the Indian Sign Language (ISL) Dictionary.
The new edition comprises 10,000 terms of daily use. It also includes the academic, legal, medical technical, administrative and agricultural terms in it.
The second edition of the Indian Sign language was released in the year 2019. It comprised of 6,000 terms while its first edition was released in the year 2018 with 3,000 terms.
The launch of the ISL dictionary is a step towards fulfilling needs of hearing and speech impaired in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016. It also complies with the initiative by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) called "Accessible Digital Textbooks for All". The ISL is essential in enhancing the vocabulary and the capabilities to understand concepts of the impaired.

Ayush Ministry, WHO Collaborate for Regional Traditional Medicine Action Plan

Ayush ministry and World Health Organization South East-Asia Regional Office have signed a letter of exchange to implement its regional traditional medicine action plan. For this, an Ayush expert would be deputed to WHO's regional traditional medicine programme.
The plan that was signed focuses on safe and effective use of traditional medicine service, including Ayurveda and other Indian traditional systems of medicine, and its appropriate integration into national health care systems.
This partnership will help countries in the South-East Asia Region develop policies and implement action plans to strengthen the role of traditional medicine.
Ayush ministry and WHO will assist countries develop appropriate policy or regulation framework, exchange of information and activities performed for integration of traditional medicine in public health and dissemination of information to the community.
