India's First Fintech Fellowship Programme

Decentro, a banking API Integration platform for businesses, launched of India's first fintech fellowship programme for developers (individual/teams) that are young graduates and final year students.
On the initiation of the pioneering program, Rohit Taneja, Founder and CEO, Decentro, said that India is known for its technological skills and with the focus on coding and associated language programs, there are many young and budding developers waiting for their chance to transform the sector with their unique ideas.
The programme that spans over 2.5 months, provides top three individual developers or teams, an opportunity to build their ideas into reality, along with a monthly grant Rs 50,000 per team from the company.

AIM-PRIME Launched to Support Science-based Deep-tech Startups & Ventures

In a major push towards deep technology and driving the country to become a digitally transformed nation, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog launched AIM-PRIME (Program for Researchers on Innovations, Market-Readiness & Entrepreneurship), an initiative to promote and support science-based deep-tech startups & ventures across India.
In this regard, AIM has joined hands with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to launch this nationwide program which will be implemented by Venture Center - a non-profit technology business incubator.
The first cohort of the program is open to technology developers (early-stage deep tech start-ups, and scientists/ engineers/ clinicians) with strong science-based deep tech business ideas. The program is also open to CEOs and senior incubation managers of AIM Funded Atal Incubation Centers that are supporting deep tech entrepreneurs.

IIT Madras-incubated Startup GUVI Joins Hands with AICTE

Madras-incubated startup GUVI is collaborating with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to upskill 10 lakh Indians in coding through a one-day free workshop called 'AI-For-India 1.0'. This event is expected to set the world record for the largest coding workshop conducted online.
Targeted towards students, IT professionals, and anyone in the age group of 8 to 80 years interested in coding, the event is scheduled to be conducted on April 24, 2021.
This initiative, being taken up in memory of GUVI's Co-founder Sridevi Arun Prakash, is part of the startup's mission to provide training in Artificial Intelligence to One billion Indians and make India - the leader in the Artificial Intelligence field.

Nagaland Health Minister launches 'i-Learn' for Community Health Officers

Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister, S. Pangnyu Phom has launched i-Learn, a capacity building and performance tracking application for Community Health Officers, CHOs in the state at his office chamber in Kohima. The state government launched the i-Learn application in partnership with USAID-NISHTHA/Jgpiego which will cater across the 189 Health & wellness centres in the state.
i-Learn is a learning management system for CHOs with self-facilitated learning for improving and learning new skills in clinical and non-clinical areas.
The state is committed to defeating the pandemic and as such it has rolled out several interventions including digital technology like the Naga Telehealth services.
The Naga Telehealth, a telemedicine platform launched just about six months ago has received a good response from the state's own medical doctors and CHOs wherein more than 1000 teleconsultations have been conducted.

Ramesh Pokhriyal Inaugurates Centre for Happiness at IIM-Jammu

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank inaugurated the centre for happiness in the Indian Institute of Management (IIM-Jammu). At the virtual inauguration, Nishank mentioned that the newly launched 'Anandam' is developed following the principle of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) that aims to transform the country's education system by 2021.
According to the minister, the new centre will help in reducing the mental pressure of students and faculty working in the institute as they have to undergo stress due to deadlines, coursework, teaching-load, and professional and personal life pressure. "The center will help people overcome mental stress and help spread positivity and it will encourage and propagate holistic development for all the stakeholders at IIM Jammu.

University of Dundee Offers Scholarship for Indian Students

The University of Dundee in collaboration with the British Council is offering the 'Great scholarships' 2021-22 for Indian students to study a full-time, on-campus, postgraduate course of value £10,000. The offer starts in September 2021. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship by May 7.
The scholarship is given for the tuition fees. It offers international students who want to study at the UK University a one-year postgraduate course. It also encourages the students to apply and demonstrate an interest in the chosen subject, through examples of work or academic experience.
The University of Dundee currently has 14 'Great scholarships' available for the 2021-22 academic year for students from China (two), Egypt (one), Ghana (one), India (one), Indonesia (two), Kenya (one), Malaysia (two), Pakistan (two) and Thailand (two) for all subjects.

J&K Samagra Shiksha E-launches Talaash App for Mapping Out of School Children

In an effort to track the education of children across the state, the Samagra Shiksha, Department of School Education, Jammu and Kashmir, has e-launched the 'Talaash' app for mainstreaming of Out of School Children (OOSC).
The app was launched by Project Director Samagra Shiksha J&K, Dr. Arun Manhas. The OOSC programme aims to enumerate and keep track of OOSC in a timely and quality manner, through intensive data analysis and monitoring.
The application is meant for easy use on smartphones by teachers and others, conducting the mapping/surveys. It would make data collection and entry one step, eliminating the need for a manual compilation of data and for sending to the block or any other level for data entry.

IIT Guwahati and Gifu University, Japan, Award Degrees

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and Gifu University, Japan, have awarded the first batch of Joint International Master's Programme in Food Science and Technology. This award ceremony was organised at Gifu University, Japan, in the virtual presence of Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Director, Prof. S. K. Kakoty, Deputy Director, IIT Guwahati, Prof. Chitralekha Mahanta, Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof. Mihir Purkait, Dean, Alumni & External Relations and other dignitaries.

Indian Classical, Bollywood, Bhangra in England's New Music Curriculum

Indian classical music, Bollywood hits and Bhangra beats are among the diverse musical traditions included in England's new music curriculum guidance for schools.
The Department for Education (DfE) said that the plan for all schools in England is aimed at giving more young people the opportunity to listen to and learn about music through the ages and across cultures.
Kishori Amonkar's 'Saheli Re', Anoushka Shankar's 'Indian Summer', A R Rahman's 'Jai Ho' and Bollywood box-office hit 'Munni Badnam Hui' are among the Indian musical references included in the DfE guidance for schools.

IIM Bodh Gaya Launches 5-year Integrated Programme in Management

IIM Bodh Gaya launched its first integrated programme in management for the academic year 2021. The first three years will be for undergraduate studies and the latter two years will be for the core management studies, and the IPM course will culminate with an MBA.
The IPM offers a total of 60 seats for the candidates where 50 seats are gender-neutral and 10 seats are reserved for female candidates under the supernumerary quota. The candidates will be selected on the basis of the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT). The JIPMAT will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) that conducts entrance test like JEE Main, NEET.
IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu have come together to conduct JIPMAT across 78 cities in India.
