T. V. Narendran is New Chairperson for IIT Kharagpur Board of Governors

  • The CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel Limited, T. V. Narendran was appointed as the new chairperson of Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur.
  • Narendran has over 34 years of experience in the field of mining and metals industry. He is a mechanical engineer from NIT Trichy and MBA from IIM Calcutta.

IIT Madras Bags Third Rank in Norway's Njord Challenge 2023

  • Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) student team Aritra secured the third place globally and also won the Sustainability Award in Njord Challenge 2023, a global competition hosted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway. They also won a cash prize of 10,000 NOK (Norwegian Krone).
  • Njord - Autonomous Ship Challenge is a unique, international student competition in which participants are tasked with designing and building an autonomous ship. Teams are invited to bring their vessels to Trondheim's fjord, where they compete in a series of challenges and events.

India's Largest Exam Centre at Five Storeys Comes up in Patna

  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, inaugurated the ambitious Bapu Pariksha Parisar in the Kumhrar locality of Patna, characterising a significant landmark in the field of education. The five-storey building, sprawling over a substantial six acres, is now deemed the largest examination centre of the state and indeed the whole of India.
  • The state-of-the-art centre has been strategically named the Bapu Pariksha Parisar, symbolising the commitment and respect toward Mahatma Gandhi's visionary ethos of education for the nation's youth.
  • This centre embodies the immense strides the state has made in prioritising education and expanding the accessible infrastructure for all.

Chapter on National War Memorial Included in Class 7 NCERT Curriculum

  • Class 7 students will now have a chapter on National War Memorial — 'A Homage to our Brave Soldiers' as a part of the NCERT curriculum. This initiative is jointly undertaken by Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education.
  • The objective of this initiative is to inculcate the values of patriotism, devotion to duty and courage and sacrifice among school children, and increase the participation of youth in nation building.
  • The National War Memorial was set up by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25, 2019 in New Delhi. It was set up to inculcate a sense of sacrifice & national spirit among the people and pay a befitting tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives defending the nation.
