Bhutan Top Honour for Former IAS officer Dr. Khetrapal

Retired Punjab cadre IAS officer of 1975 batch and WHO South-East Asia regional director Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh was awarded Bhutan's prestigious National Order of Merit Gold Medal for her distinguished services to the country.
Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk honoured Dr. Khetrapal at Bhutan's 116th National Day celebration.
Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, the first woman regional director of WHO South-East Asia Region, played a pivotal role in supporting transformative healthcare leadership in Bhutan from 2014 to 2024. Her tenure witnessed remarkable strides, including Bhutan becoming one of the first countries to eliminate measles and rubella ahead of schedule.

Mohammed Shami to Receive Prestigious Arjuna Award; Satwik-Chirag to Get Khel Ratna for 2023

Veteran pacer and India's ODI World Cup hero Mohammed Shami will receive the Arjuna Award for 2023 after a stellar year for the nation as the Sports Ministry confirmed the list. The prestigious award came as another feather in the hat for the Indian pacer who was the highest wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup with 24 wickets. Badminton duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are also on the award list as they will receive the Khel Ratna award for their contribution to the sport in 2023. Shami will join 25 other athletes as a recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award.

Gaja Capital Business Book Prize: 'Against All Odds', 'Winning Middle India' Joint Winners

The Gaja Capital Business Book Prize 2023 was jointly won by 'Against All Odds: The IT Story of India' by Kris Gopalakrishnan, N. Dayasindhu and Krishnan Narayanan, and 'Winning Middle India: The Story of India's New-Age Entrepreneurs' by T. N. Hari and Bala Srinivasa.
The Rs. 15 lakh cash prize is awarded annually to authors of narrative non-fiction about Indian business and entrepreneurship.
The jury for the fifth edition of the Gaja Capital Business Book Prize comprised stalwarts from industry, investments, academia, public policy, and governance: Manish Sabharwal, Vice-Chairman at TeamLease (Chairman, Jury), Imran Jafar, Managing Partner & Co-founder at Gaja Capital, Arindam Bhattacharya, Emeritus Partner of BCG, Dr. Lakshmi Venu, MD of Sundaram-Clayton, Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint MD of Apollo Hospitals, Michael Queen, Former Chief Executive of 3i, Neelkanth Mishra, Chief Economist at Axis Capital, Prithvi Haldea, Founder Chairman of Praxis Consulting, Shailesh Haribhakti, Founder of Shailesh Haribhakti & Associates, and UK Sinha, Former Chairman of SEBI.

Genrobotics among Top Three Indian Start-ups at Global AI Summit

Genrobotics, a Kerala-based start-up acclaimed for leveraging technology for social change, was adjudged among top three Artificial Intelligence (AI) start-ups of India at the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023 organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in New Delhi.
Genrobotic's G-gaiter Robotic Technology won the award in 'AI Game Changers' category at the summit held at Bharat Mandapam, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT presented the award to Afsal Muttikkal, Regional Director, Genrobotics Medical and Mobility and Arun Dominic, Regional Business Development Manager.
Genrobotics was honoured for its outstanding innovation in healthcare by developing G Gaiter, an advanced AI-powered robotic gait trainer.
G Gaiter trains people who lose mobility due to stroke, spinal injury, accidents, Parkinson's disease and similar conditions to recover faster with minimal dependency on others.

Finland, a global champion of gender equality, conferred the International Gender Equality Prize for 2023 to the Afghan Women Skills Development Centre, recognising its unwavering commitment to promoting and safeguarding the rights of women in Afghanistan.

The Afghan Women Skills Development Centre stands out as an organisation undertaking crucial humanitarian efforts to ensure the safety of Afghan women. The Taliban regime has systematically suppressed women's human rights, depriving girls of secondary education and women of higher education.

Indian Armed Forces Officers Awarded 'Golden Owl' for Outstanding Performance at DSCSC Sri Lanka

All three Indian Armed Forces officers who attended the prestigious Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC) course in Sri Lanka were awarded the coveted 'Golden Owl' for outstanding performance.
The prestigious award recognises the top student officer from each Armed Force's wing – Air Force, Army, and Navy – among the international participants.
Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe personally presented the awards to Wing Commander Sumeet Mahajan, Major Rohit, and Lieutenant Commander Sunny Sharma, recognising their exceptional academic achievements and leadership qualities.
The DSCSC course is a rigorous program designed to prepare senior officers for leadership roles in joint operations and higher command.

Shah Rukh Khan Bags Top Spot in UK's 2023 South Asian Celebrity List

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, referred to as the King Khan of the Indian film industry, topped a UK list of the 'Top 50 Asian Celebrities in the World' previewed in London. The 58-year-old actor, who had double box-office success this year with action thrillers 'Pathaan' and 'Jawaan', is currently preparing for the Christmas release of comedy drama 'Dunki'. Khan beat off tough competition to make it to the annual list published by UK weekly 'Eastern Eye'

Prof. Savita Ladage Honoured With Nyholm Prize for Chemistry Education Excellence

In a significant recognition of her outstanding contributions to chemistry education, Professor Savita Ladage from Mumbai's Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, was awarded the prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry's Nyholm Prize for Education. Her unwavering dedication to advancing chemistry education in India and mentoring fellow educators has placed her among the esteemed winners of this accolade.
The Nyholm Prize placed Professor Ladage in an illustrious group of past winners in the RSC's prize portfolio.
The Nyholm Prize for Education commemorates the life and work of Australian-born chemist Sir Ronald Nyholm, who – alongside his research in coordination chemistry – passionately campaigned for the improvement of science education. He acted as president of the Royal Society of Chemistry from 1968 to 1970.
The prize, which was first awarded in 1973, is awarded biennially by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
