PM Modi Launches New Credit Scheme to Help Poor Start Business Ventures

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan evam Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan (PM-SURAJ) national portal and sanction credit support to one lakh entrepreneurs of disadvantaged sections of the country.
  • The credit support will be provided to the eligible persons across the country through banks, non-banking finance companies-microfinance institutions (NBFC-MFIs) and other organisations.

Gujarat Launches Two Schemes for Students in Classes 9 to 12

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched two schemes to provide financial assistance to students from Classes 9 to 12. The government has allocated Rs. 1,650 crore for these schemes in the state budget.
  • Under the 'Namo Lakshmi Yogana',' girls studying in Classes 9 to 12 will receive Rs. 50,000 over four years. Additionally, both girls and boys who have opted for the science stream in Classes 11 and 12 will get Rs. 25,000 under the 'Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana'.

Gujarat Launches Two Schemes to Provide Financial Help to Students of Class 9-12

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Mon Saturday launched two schemes to provide financial assistance to students from Classes 9 to 12, for which the government has allocated Rs. 1,650 crore in the state budget.
  • Under its "Namo Lakshmi Yogana", the government will provide Rs. 50,000 to girls studying in Classes 9 to 12 over four years, while Rs. 25,000 will be given to both girls and boys who have opted for the science stream in Classes 11 and 12 under the "Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana", a release stated.
  • "These two significant schemes have been initiated this year to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to girls' education, encouraging girls to pursue secondary and higher secondary education and to promote science education," the state government said in a statement.

Karnataka govt approves projects worth Rs 17,835 crore

  • The new projects include Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing India' . Karnataka government on Friday approved six new projects and eight additional investment proposals worth Rs 17,835.9 crore, with a potential to generate 27,000 jobs across the state, officials said.
  • The State High-Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC), headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, at its meeting here, gave the nod to new projects worth Rs 8,220.05 crore, and additional investment ones worth Rs 9,615.85 crore, they said.
  • proposal to invest Rs 2,095 crore and provide employment to 21,723 in the state, officials said.
  • According to an official statement, other major proposals that received the government's green signal are Air India Limited (Rs 1,750 crore investments), ICT Service Management Solutions (India) Private Limited (Rs 1,450 crore), STT Global Data Centres India Private Limited (Rs 1,352.3 crore) and Indian Cane Power Limited (Rs 1,078 crore).

NAMASTE Scheme: Ensuring Safety and Dignity of Sanitation Workers

  • The National Action for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem or the NAMASTE Scheme is a testament to the Government's human-centric approach where no sanitation workers have to manually engage in the hazardous task of sewer and septic tank cleaning operations.
  • Jointly initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the NAMASTE scheme will be implemented by the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) for a period of three years from FY 2023-24 to FY 2025-26.
