Uttarakhand Launches 'Pirul Lao-Paise Pao' Campaign to Combat Forest Fires
The Uttarakhand government launched the 'Pirul Lao-Paise Pao' campaign to contain the raging forest fires in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the campaign in the Rudraprayag district. He urged the people to actively participate in the campaign and stated that cooperatives, Yuva Mangal Dal, and Van Panchayat would also take part.
Campaign involves collecting Pirul (Pine Tree leaves) from forests by local villagers and youth. Pirul will be weighed and villagers compensated at Rs. 50 per kg, transferred directly to their bank accounts.
Tehsildars are directed to open Pirul collection centres supervised by Sub-Divisional Magistrates. Collected Pirul to be stored, processed, and provided to industries under district administration's supervision. Efforts to maximize Pirul collection will be led by district Magistrates and Divisional Forest Officers. Pollution Control Board to manage the mission with a separate fund of Rs. 50 crores, ensuring compensation for villagers.

New Rs. 500 crore Scheme to Promote Electric Mobility Kicks Off
The new Rs. 500 crore scheme to promote electric mobility in India came into force and will continue till the end of July 2024. Meanwhile, the second phase of FAME, or Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India (FAME-II) programme, ended on March 31, 2024.
Subsidies under the FAME scheme were eligible for e-vehicles sold till March 31, or till the time funds are available.
The Rs. 500 crore Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024 (EMPS 2024) scheme is has been introduced by the Ministry of Heavy Industries to further accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.
Under EMPS 2024, a support of up to Rs. 10,000 per two-wheeler will be provided. The aim is to provide support for about 3.33 lakh two-wheelers.
The EMPS 2024 is a fund-limited scheme with a total outlay of Rs. 500 crore for four months – from April 1, 2024 till July 31, 2024 – for faster adoption of electric two-wheeler (e-2W) and three-wheeler (e-3W) to provide further impetus to the green mobility and development of EV manufacturing ecosystem in the country.

Centre Unveils Financial Upgradation Scheme for Gramin Dak Sevaks
Union Minister for Communications and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, unveiled a financial upgradation scheme for 2.56 lakh Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) working in the Department of Posts. The aim of the government is to improve service conditions and remove stagnation in the service of GDS.
Every Gramin Dak Sevak will get three financial upgrades on completion of 12, 24, and 36 years of service, amounting to Rs. 4,320, Rs. 5,520, and Rs. 7,200 per annum, respectively, the Union Minister announced.
This is in addition to the remuneration provided to GDS in the form of 'Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA)', according to the government.

Haryana Launches One-time Settlement Schemes for HSIIDC Plot Allottees
Newly sworn-in Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini announced two new one-time settlement schemes under the 'Vivadon Ka Samadhan' initiative in a bid to boost business operations in the state.
These schemes will provide option to plot allottees for settlement of dues and related legacy matters against plots (industrial, commercial, residential/group housing and institutional use) in respect of cost of plot and enhanced cost in industrial model townships and industrial estates of the Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).

Ministry of Heavy Industries Announces Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024
The Centre announced a new scheme, the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS), 2024, to promote the sale of electric two and three-wheelers.
Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey said that the Centre has allocated Rs. 500 crore for the new scheme, which will be valid for four months from now. The scheme will be launched on April 1.
