M. C. Mary Kom, Farhan Akhtar Named Brand Ambassadors of Women's World Boxing Championships 2023
The Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi is hosting the IBA Women's World Boxing Championship 2023 from March 15–26. Mahindra Automotive was named the title sponsor of this competition by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), while M. C. Mary Kom and Bollywood actress Farhan Akhtar were named as brand ambassadors. The third time in history, India is serving as the host country. The BFI's goal of promoting female boxing involvement will be greatly enhanced by the appearance of Marykom and Bollywood superstar Farhan Akhtar.
The biennial international competition is featuring 12 weight categories and more than 350 contestants from as many as 74 nations. Nikhat Zareen, the world champion from India, will be the centre of attention throughout the international competition. She will compete in the 50 kg weight division.

India Secures WTC Final Berth after New Zealand Beat Sri Lanka
India qualified for the prestigious World Test Championship (WTC) final after New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets in a thrilling last-ball finish in the Christchurch game.
India will play Australia in the WTC final at The Oval from June 7.
This is India's second successive entry into the WTC final, the first one was in the inaugural cycle in 2021, where India lost to New Zealand.
The ICC World Test Championship is a league competition for Test cricket run by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which started on 1 August 2019.
In October 2017, the ICC announced that a Test league was agreed upon by its members, which would involve the top nine teams competing in 71 Test matches in 27 series across two years.
The 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship for Men and Women to be held in Assam
The 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship for Men and Women will be held at Baksa district in Assam from the March 20 to 23, 2023.
The event is being organised by the Kho Kho Federation of India in association with the Assam Kho Kho Association and Bodoland Territorial Region government. The government of Assam also extended its support for the competition.
Altogether 12 countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka and the host India will be participating in the competition. Over 800 players and officials will participate in the four-day event.

Brenda Clinches ITF Women's Open Title
Brenda Fruhvirtova defeated India's Ankita Raina 0-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the singles final of the KPB Trust ITF Women's Open at the KSLTA Stadium, Karnataka.
Brenda won $6,094, while Ankita received $3,257. K. P. Balaraj, the founder of KPB Family Trust, Sunil Yajaman, Joint Secretary of KSLTA,and Shruthi Iyer, Mrs. India Universe 2021, attended the prize distribution function.
ISSF Shotgun World Cup: Prithviraj, Shreyasi Finish Sixth in Mixed Trap
The Indian trap mixed team of Prithviraj Tondaiman and Shreyasi Singh finished sixth as the country's shooters ended the ISSF Shotgun World Cup with just a bronze medal.
The USA team comprising William Hinton and Alicia Kathleen Gough beat Kuwait's Talal Alrashidi and Sarah Alhawal 6-0 in the gold medal match to clinch the title. Poland won bronze.
India Eliminated from U-20 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers
India settled for a 1-1 draw against hosts Vietnam and was knocked out of contention for Round 2 of the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers.
Needing a win in their final Group F match to make the cut, India drew first blood through Babina Devi's 12th-minute strike. But the goal was cancelled out by Tran Nhat Lan.
Both teams finished on seven points from three matches each in the four-team group.
However, India (+13) was knocked out because of its inferior goal difference with Vietnam (+14).

Bhyan Qualifies for World Para Athletics Championships
Ekta Bhyan qualified for the World Para Athletics Championships as the Indian team returned home with seven medals from the Dubai World Para Athletics Grand Prix.
The Indian contingent, which had several youngsters making their international debut in Dubai, won four silver and three bronze medals.
There were altogether seven world records and 45 regional records, making the event a great success.
In the medals standings, China finished on top with 102 medals that included 42 gold, followed by Ukraine (11 gold) and Uzbekistan (9 gold).
India finished in 28th place.
Asian Para Games gold medallist Bhyan hurled the discus at 6.35m in the fifth round to claim bronze in women's wheelchair discus F53 event, which was won by Ukraine's Zoia Ovsii (13.19 m).
New Stand at MA Chidambaram Stadium to be Named after Former TN CM M. Karunanidhi
A new stand, which will house the Anna Pavilion at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, is set to be named after former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. The new-look Anna Pavilion will include a state-of-the-art indoor training facility on the ground floor.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin will inaugurate the new stand named after his late father, who was a five-time Chief Minister of the state between 1969-2011 on March 17.
The iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium, which is the second oldest in India after Eden Gardens, has undergone renovation ahead of the 2023 50-over World Cup. The new stands will be open to the public for the third and final ODI between India and Australia on March 22.

Khelo India Dus Ka Dum Tournament Held in New Delhi
Khelo India Dus Ka Dum Tournament started. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur was at the opening ceremony scheduled at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
In the run-up to the International Women's Day 2023 celebrations, the Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry is organizing the Khelo India Dus Ka Dum tournament from March 10 to 31. Nearly 15,000 women athletes will participate in the contest in more than 50 cities of the country. The game features 10 sports. The objective of this tournament is to provide a platform to the women athletes who were unable to participate in national or state-level competitions. It is also aimed at ensuring that competitive sports reach untapped geographical areas.
