Tribal Affairs Minister Launches 'GOAL' Programme

Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda has launched the "GOAL - Going Online As Leaders - programme of his Ministry in partnership with Facebook at a Webinar in New Delhi.
The GOAL programme is designed to provide mentorship to tribal youth through digital mode.
The digitally enabled programme envisages to act as a catalyst to explore hidden talents of the tribal youth, which will help in their personal development as well as contribute to all-round upliftment of their society.

Essential Commodities Act Amendment

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the government will amend the Essential Commodities Act. This will be done in order to enable better price realisation for farmers and to make the agriculture sector competitive.
Agriculture foodstuffs including cereals, edible oils, oilseeds, pulses, onion, and potato will be deregulated.
Stock limit will be imposed under very exceptional circumstances like national calamities, famine with a surge in prices

Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana to be Launched by Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh State Government is to launch the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. The scheme is to be launched on May 21, 2020.
The scheme is being launched to commemorate the death anniversary of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
The scheme will infuse Rs 5,100 crores into the rural economy of the state. This is to be done through Direct Benefit Transfer.

Finance Minister Announced Rs 1 Lakh Crore Agricultural Infrastructure Fund

FM announced Rs 1 lakh crore agri infrastructure fund for Farmer Producer Organizations, aggregators, primary agriculture cooperative societies for strengthening farm-gate infrastructure such as cold chains, post harvest management infrastructure.
National Animal Disease Control Programme has been launched with total outlay of Rs. 13,343 crores for 100% vaccination of cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat and pig population in India.

Operation Greens to be Extended to All Fruits, Vegetables

Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that Operation Green will be expanded with an additional fund of Rs 500 crore and extended from tomatoes, onions and potatoes to all fruits and vegetables.
The scheme will feature a 50% subsidy on transportation from surplus to deficient markets and 50% subsidy on storage, including cold storage.
It will be piloted for six months and expanded and extended thereafter. It looks at bringing better price realisation to farmers, reduce wastage and affordability of products for consumers.

Govt to Launch Rs 20000 Crore Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana

The government will also launch a 20,000 crore rupees Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana for the development of marine and inland fisheries.
Of this, 11,000 crore rupees will be earmarked for activities in marine, inland fisheries and aquaculture while 9,000 crore rupees for infrastructure creation such as fishing harbours, cold chain and markets.
This will provide employment to over 55 lakh persons and double exports to one lakh crore rupees.
The Finance Minister said the ongoing National Animal Disease Control Programme for Foot and Mouth Disease and Brucellosis will look at 100 per cent vaccination of cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, and pigs against Foot and Mouth Disease at an outlay of 13,343 crore rupees.

Rs 500 Cr for Beekeeping Initiatives, Will Help 2 Lakh Beekeepers

The government will implement a Rs 500 crore scheme of infrastructure development for the country's beekeepers, with special thrust on capacity building of women, Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharamam said.
The government will implement the scheme for infrastructure development related to integrated beekeeping development centres, collection marketing and storage centres, post-harvest and value addition facilities among other things.
It will also include implementation of standards, developing a traceability system, development of quality nucleus stock and bee breeders.

West Bengal Govt Launches 'Matir Smristi' Scheme

West Bengal Government has launched 'Matir Smristi' scheme to utilise 50,000 acres of barren land in 6 districts.
This scheme helps to generate income activities in horticulture and pisciculture involving the locals. The 'Matir Smristi' scheme will benefit around 2.5 lakh people in rural Bengal.
In West Bengal at least 50,000 acres of barren land in Birbhum, Purulia, Bankura, Jhargram, West Burdwan and West Midnapore districts, which cannot produce anything naturally nor can the farmers cultivate on the strip.
The work has been started in 6,500 acres of land at the micro-level and this is an environment-friendly scheme

Uttarakhand CM Launches 'HOPE' Portal to Help Unemployed Youth

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has launched "HOPE" (Helping Out People Everywhere) portal to help unemployed youth to get jobs opportunities.
The portal will be used to collect the data on the youths of the state who are staying in as well as the recently returned migrant youths.
This platform will help unemployed youths for job seeking and skill development.

MP Govt Relaunches Sambal Scheme

The Madhya Pradesh government has re-launched the ambitious Sambal Yojana aimed to strengthen the lives of the poor and the SC and ST communities by providing them social security cover, right from birth to death.
CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan transferred Rs 41.33 crores into the accounts of the beneficiaries of Sambal Yojana at one click.
Later, in a discussion with the beneficiaries, the CM said that though the previous government had discontinued the scheme, the cards meant for the scheme can now be used again.

MP Home Minister Launches Country's First Ever 'FIR Aapke Dwar' Yojana

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra launched country's first ever 'FIR Aapke Dwar Yojana' in Bhopal.
Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to implement such an innovative scheme. Launching the scheme at the new Police Control Room, Dr Narottam Mishra said that now people would not be required to visit police station to lodge an FIR.
'FIR Aapke Dwar' scheme has been started as a pilot project in 23 Police Stations including one urban and one rural Police Station at 11 Divisional Headquarters.Director General of Police Vivek Johari informed that Dial 100 vehicle would have trained Head Constables to lodge FIR. FIRs in complaints of general nature will be lodged on the spot. In case of serious complaints, guidance will be sought from senior officers.

TRIFED, AOL ink MoU to Promote Tribal Enterprises

Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India, TRIFED under Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Art Of Living, AOL Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in programmes of each organisation for promoting Tribal Enterprises.
The Art of Living Foundation has agreed to provide Free Ration Kits to Needy Tribes India Artisans.
TRIFED Regional Offices have compiled the list of needy tribal artisans and have identified 9,409 needy tribal artisans located across the country for distribution of ration kits under I Stand With Humanity campaign of AOL. This is being coordinated with the AOL offices in all States.

Atal Pension Yojana Completes Five Years, Achieves 2.23 Crore Enrolment

The flagship social security scheme of Government of India 'Atal Pension Yojana' (APY) has completed five years of its implementation. Launched on 9 May, 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed to deliver income security to the old age. It particularly offered assistance to the workers in the unorganised sector and guarantee of minimum pension to the citizens after 60 years of age.
Within five years of its implementation the scheme registered 2.23 crore workers and addressing the challenges of rapidly increasing aging population of India. Apart from the enrolments, the scheme has been implemented comprehensively across the country covering all states and Union Territories with male to female subscription ratio of 57:43.

Central Board of Direct Taxes Amends Rule 44G of Income-tax Rules 1962

Central Board of Direct Taxes on Thursday has amended Rule 44G of Income-tax Rules, 1962 for making an application to invoke the mutual agreement procedure in Form no. 34F.
It also states that if a resolution is arrived, the same shall be communicated to the assessee, who shall communicate his acceptance or non-acceptance within 30 days. Upon acceptance of the resolution, the assessee shall withdraw any appeal filed in this regard and pay the tax determined by the assessing officer after giving effect to the resolution.
