Book 'Himalayan Odyssey' Written By Shri M.P. Veerendra Kumar Released

The book 'Himalayan Odyssey', the English translation of the award-winning Malayalam original - 'Haimavathabhuvil', written by Shri M.P. Veerendra Kumar, Member of Parliament and Chief Managing Director of Mathrubhumi, was released in New Delhi.
The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu launched the book.

Marriott To Ban Small Plastic Bottle Toiletries From December 2020

Marriott International, the world's largest hotel chain, will eliminate small plastic bottles of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel from its hotel rooms worldwide by December 2020. They'll be replaced with larger bottles or wall-mounted dispensers, depending on the hotel.
The move follows a similar announcement by IHG, which owns Holiday Inn, Kimpton and other brands. IHG said it will eliminate about 200 million tiny bottles each year by 2021.
In 2018, Walt Disney Co. said it would replace small plastic shampoo bottles at its resorts and on its cruise ships. Many small companies, like the five Soneva Resorts in Thailand and the Maldives, have also ditched plastic bottles.
Marriott has more than 7,000 hotels in 131 countries under 30 brands, ranging from SpringHill Suites and Residence Inn to Sheraton and Ritz-Carlton. It says it will be eliminating about 500 million small bottles each year, or 1.7 million pounds of plastic.

A Book Titled "Savarkar: Echoes From a Forgotten Past, 1883-1924" Released

A book titled "Savarkar: Echoes from a forgotten past, 1883-1924″ is penned by Bengaluru-based historian Vikram Sampath and published by Penguin.
This book describes the life of freedom fighter and Philosopher Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, popularly known as Veer Savarkar.
This first volume of the two-volume series covers the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar (Veer Savarkar), from his birth in 1883 to his conditional release to Ratnagiri in 1924.

Swachh Bharat Mission's Book on Behavior Change Communication released

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, graced and addressed the Swachh Mahotsav 2019, a function held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi organised by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti.
On the occasion, the President presented the Swachh Bharat Awards in various categories. He also received the Swachh Bharat Mission's Book on Behavior Change Communication from Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, who formally released it.
The President said that we have to move forward, adopting the broader meaning of cleanliness. For example, providing clean drinking water also comes under the purview of sanitation.
Cleanliness is also an essential condition for the success of 'Jal Jeevan Mission' launched by the Government of India in 2019.

Glorious Diaspora- Pride Of India Book Released

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has released a coffee table book entitled 'Glorious Diaspora- Pride of India' on Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awardees in New Delhi.
The book covers the complete profiles of overseas Indians (politicians, business leaders, scientists, economists )who received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards (PBSA) from the year 2003 – 2019 in various sectors.
It has been brought out by Indian Diaspora Club.
Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (Overseas Indian Award) is the highest honour constituted by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India in conjunction with the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (Non-Resident Indian Day), to honour exceptional and meritorious contribution in their chosen profession.
It was first launched in the year 2003. January 9 was chosen every year as the day to observe Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) since it was on this day in 1915 that Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest Pravasi, returned to India from South Africa, led India's freedom struggle and changed the lives of Indians.

'Loktantra Ke Swar' (Hindi): Books on President's speeches released

Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu released the Books on President's speeches titled 'Loktantra Ke Swar (Khand 2)' in Hindi and 'The Republican Ethic (Volume 2)' in English in a function organized at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi.
The Second Volume of Books are a compilation of 95 speeches delivered by President of India Ram Nath Kovind during his 2nd year in office starting July 2019.
The speeches of President represent vision, aspirations and ethos of country and also represent contours of a New India.
The books are a collection of nuggets of President's wisdom and visionary world view and also a testament of faith in strength of India. Speeches have been divided into 8 categories.

Vice President Releases 2nd Volumes Of Loktantra Ke Swar & The Republican Ethic

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has said, India never was an aggressor and never attacked any country as it believes that the entire world is one family.
He said, the problems can be resolved through discussion and debate. He, however, said that if somebody attacks India the country will give strong reply.
Mr Naidu said this in New Delhi while releasing the second volumes of Loktantra Ke Swar and the Republican Ethic, the compilation of 95 speeches delivered by President Ram Nath Kovind.
The Vice President said, India has chosen the path of democracy to achieve a better quality of life for all people.
Mr Naidu said, the faith of President Kovind in democratic values is unwavering and he goes much deeper to reveal before people multiple aspects-layer after layer, when he delves into the vision of the republic.
He said that President Kovind reminds the nation of the contributions of the Annadaatas - the farmers, scientists and professionals and above all the brave jawans.
