A New Book Entitled "Ten Studies In Kashmir: History And Politics" Released

  •  An Indian historian, educationist and Padma Shri recipient, Kashi Nath Pandit's new book entitled "Ten Studies in Kashmir: History and Politics", is published by Academic Foundation.
  • A new book looks at the riveting history of Jammu and Kashmir from the time of its political and geographic consolidation to the abrogation of the state's special status.
  • The book, which comes after the scrapping of Article 370 provisions in August 2019, will shed light on the happenings from 1947 till the revocation of the special status of the state.

Bibek Debroy Pens Translations Of Two Hindu Mythological Texts

  •  Economist and author Bibek Debroy has come out with English translations of two Hindu mythological texts -- "Markendya Purana" and "The Bhagavad Gita", publishers Penguin announced.
  • Both the books, translated from Sanskrit, draw out the subtleties of the ancient texts and enable a new generation of readers to savour its timeless riches.
  • While "Markendya Purana", is a marvellous amalgam of mythology and metaphysics that unfolds a series of conversations in which sage Markandeya is asked to answer some deeper questions raised by the events in the "Mahabharata", "The Bhagavad Gita" is an account of the debate between right and wrong, and the bond between action and consequence.

PM Modi Releases Book Titled 'Bridgital Nation'

  •   Releasing a book titled 'Bridgital Nation' in New Delhi today, Mr Modi said that positivity, optimism and faith in talent and resources is the thought of New India.
  • He said that technology and talent were not a threat but force multiplier. He added that technology is the bridge between aspiration and achievement. 
  • The Prime Minister said that the technological interventions have reformed and transformed governance in India in the last five years.
  • He mentioned that through technology the government was able to reach the people and provided them Bank accounts, LPG connection and also health care.
  • The book has been authored by Chairman, Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran and Roopa Purushothaman. Eminent industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata was present on the occasion among others.

Bill Gates Book On Fighting Climate Change

  •  Bill Gates is taking his fight against climate change to the printed page.
  • Gates is working on "How to Avoid a Climate Disaster". The Microsoft founder will outline his ideas for achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions, whether through local, national or global action.
  • Gates said in a statement that he wanted to help "build the technologies, businesses, and industries to avoid the worst impacts of climate change."
  • At the United Nations' Climate Action Summit in September 2019, Gates announced that his foundation was working with the World Bank and some European governments to provide $790 million to help millions of the world's small farmers adapt to climate change. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation pledged $310 million of that.
  • "How to Avoid a Climate Disaster" is scheduled for June 2020.

New Book Documents Gandhi's Legacy Launched In South Africa

  •  '150 Years of Celebrating the Mahatma the South African Legacy', by author and journalist Fakir Hassen, is a 160-page coffee table that records how commemorations of Gandhi's activities, including his birth and death anniversaries, were confined to the local Indian community only.
  • The book documents how attempts to remember his sojourn in South Africa were stifled by the apartheid-era minority white government and revived after former president Nelson Mandela acknowledged his role in starting off democracy in the country.
  • The book was launched on Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary.
