NeGD, MeitY Signed an MoU with NLIU, Bhopal

  • National eGovernance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) & The National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal signed an MoU in New Delhi in the presence of Secretary, MeitY, VC-NLU Delhi and VC- Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL, Patiala) to implement an 'Online Capacity Building Programme on Cyber Law, Crime Investigation and Digital Forensics through NeGD Learning Management System (LMS)'.
  • The goal of this programme is to enable Police Officers, State Cyber Cells, Law Enforcement Agencies, Prosecutors and Judicial Officers to acquire the requisite skills to deal with Cyber Forensics cases efficiently & effectively as per the Indian Cyber Law while adopting global best practices, standards and guidelines.
 

Kerala Tops Niti Aayog's Report on School Education

  • States including Kerala, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Assam were ranked as the best-performing (among large states), each achieving an overall performance score above 60.0% while Uttar Pradesh was ranked last according to Niti Aayog.
  • As Per the report, Kerala has the highest overall performance score of 76.6% while Uttar Pradesh was last among large states, with an overall performance score of 36.4%.
  • In smaller states, Manipur ranks first among the Small States on the outcomes category, with a score of 82.1%. Arunachal Pradesh has the lowest score, at 27.2%. In the Governance Processes Aiding Outcomes category, Mizoram has the highest score of 47.5% while Arunachal Pradesh ranks last with a score of 18.3%.
  • Manipur, Tripura and Goa are the top-performing states, each achieving an overall performance score above 55%. Manipur has the highest overall performance score of 68.8%. Arunachal Pradesh ranks last, with an overall performance score of 24.6%.
  • Among Union Territories Chandigarh has the highest overall performance score of 82.9% while Lakshadweep ranks last, with an overall performance score of 31.9%.
  • Chandigarh and Dadra and Nagar Haveli are the top-performing UTs, with each achieving an overall performance score above 50%.

UP CM Inaugurated Mobile Hospital Near Kashi Vishwanath Temple

  • In Uttar Pradesh, the devotees coming from all over the world to Kashi Vishwanath temple would now get immediate emergency health care services if needed. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Shri Kashi Vishwanath Arogya Mandir, a mobile hospital in the city. A team of doctors and paramedics will be available here and after stabilising serious patients, they would be shifted to the district or Banaras Hindu University Hospital. 

Kerala Tops the List for Best Performing State in Health

  • Kerala continued to top the list for the best performing State in the health sector among the 21 large States, while Uttar Pradesh retained the worst performer tag, according to the second edition of NITI Aayog's Health Index.
  • Kerala, which got an overall score of 74.01, was followed by Andhra Pradesh (65.13), Maharashtra (63.99), Gujarat (63.52) and Punjab (63.01), Himachal Pradesh (62.41), Jammu and Kashmir 62.37, Karnataka (61.14) and Tamil Nadu (60.41).
  • Uttar Pradesh continued to be at the bottom of the list with its score falling to 28.61. Other States at the bottom of the list were Bihar (32.11), Odisha (35.97) and Madhya Pradesh (38.39).

IIT Council Approves 'Honourable' Exit Plan for 'Weak' Students

  • The IIT Council approved plans to give an honourable exit to 'weak students' after the second semester, allow greater autonomy for IITs in consultation with the NITI Aayog, encourage their 'internationalisation' through renewable contracts for foreign faculty and test OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) students directly for JEE Advanced.
  • At its 53rd meeting held in New Delhi, the council said that those who are unable to keep pace with the required academic standards can be can be allowed an 'honourable' exit after the second semester, instead of being dropped from the IIT system.
  • Each IIT senate will be asked to look at reasonable exit options for such students, with the understanding that they should be equipped with degree-level education and given extra time to cover up, if necessary, those who attended the meeting said.

JNU Inks MoU With IIT-Delhi For Research, Education, Technology

  •  The Jawaharlal Nehru University inked an agreement with IIT-Delhi for cooperation in research, education and technology developments in science and other disciplines.
  • This collaboration between JNU and IIT-Delhi will also facilitate access to each other's libraries and central research facilities to intensify joint research projects and other related academic activities, it added.

Odisha Unveils 'Tikki Mausi' To Combat Malnutrition Among Children, Women

  •  With an aim to spread awareness about child and woman's nutrition, Women and Child Development and Mission Shakti Department in collaboration with the UNICEF unveiled a mascot named 'Tikki Mausi'.
  • The department also launched a comprehensive state-level communication strategy in collaboration with the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
  • Women and Child Development Minister Tukuni Sahu and UNICEF's state chief Monika O Nielsen unveiled the mascot and also launched the state level communication strategy to make the public aware about child and woman's nutrition and their development.

RRCB Holds Presentation Session With Agencies To Assess Their Strength To Hold Recruitment Exams ...

  •  Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB) of Ministry of Railways held a presentation session with major Examination Conducting Agencies from all over India, to assess their strength and potential to hold large recruitment examinations for Indian Railways.
  •  Based on these interactions, the Railways is expected to float tender for selecting the Examination Conducting Agency for holding the forth-coming examinations of Non-Technical Popular Categories and Miscellaneous Categories.
  • Indian Railways being the largest employer, has given employment to over 1.5 lakh people in last one year and almost equal number is in the pipeline.
  • Railway Examinations invite a large number of applications running into lakhs and more.
  • In 2018, one of the examinations had about 1.89 crore candidates which is a record.
  • Conducting such large scale examinations successfully has been a matter of concern and hence Examination Conducting Agencies are selected after minutely scrutinising their credentials and potentials.

Australia Government Body Announces Rs 3.32 Crore Grant To Promote Stronger Ties With India

  •  In a bid to further promote stronger ties with India, an Australian government body has announced a grant of Rs 3.32 crore to 11 new projects that include workshops on woman social entrepreneurs and an innovative programme on school children.
  • The Australia India Council (AIC), a government body to build awareness and understanding between the people and institutions of the two sides, would allocate the grant of 689,000 Australian dollars (Rs 3,32,18,374) to the Western Sydney University (WSU) and the Australian National University (ANU), which will conduct the projects in collaboration with Indian organisations.

Dr Harsh Vardhan Launches 'TB Harega Desh Jeetega' Campaign

  •  Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare launched the new 'TB Harega Desh Jeetega Campaign' along with the National TB Prevalence Survey. Multi-stakeholder and community participation shall form the pivot of the countrywide campaign. 
  • "As part of our commitment to end-TB, we have established patient forums in over 95 per cent of all districts in the first 100 days, which clearly shows our strong commitment to ending TB in the shortest time. These district forums will bring the voices of the affected to the fore, and highlight on-ground challenges faced by patients and their families in accessing TB care services", he stated.
