NHA And Google Join Hands, Plans To Strengthen Ayushman Bharat Scheme
The National Health Authority (NHA) and Google have joined to strengthen the implementation of Prime Minister Modi's scheme - Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
The NHA and Google will be exploring several cases to increase the efficiency of application processes.
The collaboration is said to achieve PM Modi's goals to help the poor and improve their access to proper healthcare.
HRD Minister Lays Stone For IIM Campus In Amritsar
Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank laid the foundation stone of the campus of the Indian Institute of Management in Amritsar's Manawala.
IIM campus would come upon 60,000 square metres and have state-of-the-art facilities in the library, academic block and hostels.
The allocation of 350 crore rupees has been sanctioned for the first phase of the construction while an additional amount of 250 crore rupees would be allocated for the project.
AIIMS, Health Ministry Launch 'Edantseva' Website And App
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences in collaboration with the Union Health Ministry launched the first-ever website and mobile application on oral health awareness.
The digital platform, 'e-DantSeva', contains information about the National Oral Health Programme, a detailed list of all the dental facility and colleges, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) material and a unique feature called the 'Symptom Checker'.
The website also provides GPRS route satellite images of the facility for easier access to the people.

Rajasthan's Sanskrit University Establishes Language Labs
Aiming to improve pronunciation, creation of new words and translation into Hindi, English and Sanskrit, Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University has established language labs. The labs have been created in three languages.
As per the University administration, out of the 15 Sanskrit Universities in the country, Rajasthan's Sanskrit University is the first to establish language labs in three languages.
Dr. Anula Maurya, vice-chancellor of the university said that "we are aiming to create an environment to teach students of English, Hindi and Sanskrit with the correct pronunciation, creation of new words and translation through computer aided education."

First All-Female Spacewalk Is Back On, NASA Says
The first spacewalk to be conducted entirely by women is scheduled for Oct. 21, 2019. NASA announced, nearly seven months after an all-female spacewalk was canceled because two properly fitted spacesuits were not readily available.
Christina Koch and Anne McClain, the two astronauts who were scheduled to conduct the spacewalk in March, 2019 both needed a medium-size torso component, but only one was available.
The spacewalk did take place — it just wasn't all-female. Ms. Koch conducted the six-hour mission with fellow astronaut Nick Hague.
PMJAY - First Year With 90,000 Cancer Claims; Tamil Nadu Tops The List
In its first year, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), the tertiary care arm of Ayushman Bharat, has funded the treatment of 90,000 cancer patients through 1.8 lakh hospital admissions.
This is according to data available with the Union Health Ministry, which also show that every year there are 11.57 lakh new cancer patients in India and 7.84 lakh cancer deaths. At any given point, there are 22.5 lakh Indians living with cancer.
Tamil Nadu, with 40,056 cases, tops the state where the most cancer patients availed treatment under PMJAY, followed by Kerala (22,000), Madhya Pradesh (19,455), Chhattisgarh (15,997) and Gujarat (14,380).
Kochi To Host National Health Informatics Meet In 2020
The Health Informatics and Information Management Association (HIIMA), Kerala, and the Health Records Association of India (HERAI) are jointly organising the 20th annual national conference in Kochi on February 7 and 8, 2020.
The theme of the conference – Medrecon 2020 – is 'Value of Data in Health Care Ecosystem'.
More than 700 delegates from the healthcare sector in India and abroad are expected to participate in the meet.
Goa Government Releases Rs 60 Crore For Super Speciality Block In Goa Medical College Hospital
The Goa government released Rs 60 crore for the super speciality block being constructed at the Goa Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Bambolim.
The 500-bed super speciality facility, being built under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), will be inaugurated by the end of 2019.
The state government granted administrative and expenditure sanction of Rs 60 crore for the facility.

Finish Certificates' Audit by Oct 10: DU to Colleges
Following complaints of students taking admission using fake certificates from non-existent education boards, Delhi University's (DU) admission committee has asked all colleges to submit a report of the forensic verification of documents submitted by students enrolled in 2019.
The colleges were asked to submit the reports by October 10, 2019.
According to a member of the admission committee, the admission committee also found a case of a fake board certificate submitted by a student who wanted to change colleges.
The admission of the student was cancelled and an internal inquiry initiated in the matter.
The university administration had, in 2019, recommended that colleges conduct forensic checking of mark sheets and certificates of candidates during admission.
The directions were given based on 2018's incident when the graduation degree of former DU student union president Ankiv Baisoya was found to be forged.
Decline in Representation of Women in Haryana Elections
From 116 women who ran for election to the Haryana assembly in 2014, the October 21, 2019 polls would see a near 50% dip in the number of female contestants after frontline political parties picked just 60 women to join the fray.
Of the women candidates who contested the 2014 polls, 13 won — the highest since 1966, when the state of Haryana was carved out of Punjab.
For the 90-member Haryana assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chose 12 women to run on the party ticket against 15 in 2014. The Congress chose nine women candidates, one short of the 10 it fielded the last time.
Similarly, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), which had promised 33% of seats to women, selected only fifteen.
Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), an offshoot of the INLD, nominated seven women against its promise of 27 seats.
The Aam Aadmi Party fielded 8 women and the Bahujan Samaj Party six while the Loktantra Suraksha Party allotted tickets to only three.
AIIMS, JIPMER to be Included in NEET-UG
Union Minister of Health Harsh Vardhan announced that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) would be included under the umbrella of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).
These institutions used to conduct separate entrance exams for admission into the under-graduate medical course (MBBS) earlier.
Harsh Vardhan also said that the formation of the National Medical Commission 2019 is taking place at a fast pace.
According to Harsh Vardhan, NMC would consist of 33 members, including nine members from the State Medical Councils (SMCs) and ten Vice-Chancellors (VCs), who will be rotated every two years.

NHSRC Redesignated As WHO Collaborating Centre For Medical Devices, Health Technology Policy
The National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) has been redesignated as a WHO collaborating centre for priority medical devices and health technology policy.
The mandate of the division of healthcare technology at NHSRC is to draw up technical specifications for technologies procured under National Health Mission, draft policies for medical device maintenance and management, undertake evaluations of health product innovations and support the ministry on issues related to diagnostics initiative, National Dialysis Program among others.
