VAMS (Visitor Authentication & Management Systems) Global, a Mumbai based startup offering specialized solutions for Corporates & Commercial Buildings, has developed world's 1st contactless Visitor Management Software called 'VAMS SafeGuard' that checks body temperature, scans faces with mask compliance & monitors social distancing on the premise.
It scans and records one person at a time from a distance of 18″ in less than 3-5 seconds.

WHO Adopts "Human Challenge Trial" to Develop New Vaccine
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently announced eight candidates to enter human trials. Several people step forward to participate in human challenge trial as the race to develop new vaccine for the virus is increasing.
The trial involves infecting volunteers intentionally with COVID-19 virus. This is done to speed up the process of vaccine development.
The main benefit of the human challenge trial is that it accelerates testing. Many efficacious vaccines shall be available more quickly. Also, the number of people required in phase 3 of these trials is less than the regular trials.

ICMR to Replace HCQ With Anti-HIV Drug; Kangra Tea Suggested
After the well known herb Ashwgandha, now, Kangra tea has been marked as a potential coronavirus blocker.
A senior research professional associated with a reputed bioresource technology institute has claimed that Kangra Tea, well known for its other medicinal properties, may also be able to boost immunity against coronavirus by blocking the virus activity better than the anti-HIV drugs currently being used as preventive care for patients and health care professionals.
India's premier medical research institute, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is considering replacing hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) with anti-HIV drugs to improve immunity and possibly reduce viral replication.
However, Kangra tea could prove to be a more effective weapon against the disease, says a well known expert.

IGNOU Launches Online Master's Programme in Hindi
Union HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank launched IGNOU's Online Programme, MA (Hindi) through Facebook Live session.
The launch was done keeping in mind the prevailing situation and adherence to the partial-lockdown as per the Government's directives.
The minister said that this would strengthen the "Padhe India Online" initiative. He stressed on the role the Hindi language plays not in India but in other countries including Mauritius, Fiji, Surinam, etc.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed universities and colleges to use the 82 undergraduate and 42 postgraduate Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) available on the HRD Ministry''s ''Swayam'' platform for credit transfer.
According to an official statement, Swayam (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is a platform developed by the HRD Ministry to achieve the three cardinal principles of education policy — access, equity and quality.
IIT Guwahati Finds New Ways to Prevent Memory Loss Due to Alzheimer's
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati's (IIT-G) researchers have discovered new ways that can help prevent or reduce short-term memory losses associated with the Alzheimers disease.
The research team explored new ways to prevent the accumulation of neurotoxic molecules in the brain that are associated with short-term memory loss due to Alzheimer's disease.
They reported some methods such as the application of low-voltage electric field and the use of 'trojan peptides' to arrest aggregation of neurotoxic molecules in the brain.
The idea of using 'Trojan peptide' comes from mythological "Trojan Horse" used as subterfuge by the Greeks in the battle of 'Troy'.
SCTIMST Launched Agappe Chitra Magna
The commercial launch of, Agappe Chitra Magna, a magnetic nanoparticle-based RNA extraction kit for use during testing for detection of COVID-19 developed by Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) - Trivandrum, an Institute of National Importance of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) along with Agappe Diagnostics Ltd, an in vitro diagnostics manufacturing company based in Cochin was organized.
The launch programme is being organized by SCTIMST in collaboration with Agappe Diagnostics Ltd at the Biomedical Technology Wing of SCTIMST.
