Thirteenth Honda Young Engineer and Scientist's Award

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) held the 13th edition of the Honda Young Engineer and Scientist's (Y-E-S) Award for 2019-20 and awarded 14 students from IITs, India's esteemed science and technology institutes, across the country. The coveted Y-E-S Award is bestowed upon brilliant minds from IITs after a meticulous evaluation by a jury of senior Honda executives and prominent Indian scientists. With the latest edition of Y-E-S programme, the company has recognised and rewarded over 168 students in 13 years.
Mr. Satoshi Suzuki, Ambassador of Japan to India, presented the award to the students in recognition of their outstanding all-round performance in academics.

M. Beena Chosen for Maiden IQA Award

Cochin Port Trust chairperson M. Beena won the first-ever Ambassador of Knowledge Award in Asia instituted by International Quizzing Association.
The award was presented to Ms. Beena by Anurakshat Gupta, director, IQA Asia, on the sidelines of Deva Jnan, the national level inter-school quiz fest conducted at Devagiri CMI Public School, Kozhikode.
IQA chose Dr. Beena for her efforts and activities to popularise the game of quizzing among the masses. Arogyatharakam, the biggest health quiz in India is Dr. Beena's brainchild. The quiz played a major role in sensitising the masses to various health issues and lifestyle disorders. Dr. Beena also explored the possibilities of the game of quizzing at institutions like KSIDC and Cochin Port Trust.

Bafta Film Awards 2020

World War One film '1917' was the big winner at the Bafta Film Awards, with seven prizes in total.
The trophies for Sir Sam Mendes's movie included best film, best British film, best director and best cinematography.
Joker won three awards including best actor for Joaquin Phoenix, while Renee Zellweger was named best actress for her portrayal of Judy Garland.
Phoenix took aim at "systemic racism" and "oppression" within the film industry in his acceptance speech.
His words, and those of the Duke of Cambridge later, came in the wake of a diversity row prompted by the all-white line-up of acting nominees.
South Korean film Parasite won two prizes - for original screenplay and film not in the English language.

Sanjana Kapoor Receives the Prestigious French Honour

Well-known theatre person, Sanjana Kapoor received the prestigious French honour of Chevalier dans lOrdre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) for her outstanding contribution to the field of theatre. She is the daughter of Late Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor.
L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres is a French government distinction instituted in 1957 by the Ministry of Culture and is conferred, regardless of nationality, on persons who have distinguished themselves by their creativity in the fields of art or literature, or for their contribution to promoting art and literature in France and throughout the world.

Calcutta University Awards Doctor of Letters Degree to Abhijit Banerjee

Nobel laureate Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee was conferred the honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) by his alma mater Calcutta University at its annual conference in Kolkata.
Eminent astrophysicist J. V. Narlikar was conferred by Sir Asutosh Mookerjee Memorial Medal. Scientists Samir K Brahmachari, Arup Kumar Raychaudhuri, and Partha Pratim Majumder were bestowed the Sir Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray Medal.
