NITI Aayog Organizes 5th Edition of Women Transforming India Awards

As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate 75 years of India's independence, the Women Transforming India Awards were conferred on seventy five women achievers to celebrate their contribution towards a Sashakt Aur Samarth Bharat.The 75 awardees represent different regions and sectors and have been selected through an elaborate process spanning several months. The awardees have been selected on the basis of nominations received on Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) and through shortlisting by a search-and-select committee.
The Women Transforming India Awards is NITI Aayog's annual initiative to highlight the commendable and ground-breaking endeavours of India's women leaders and change-makers.

President Kovind Confers Padma Awards For 2022

President Ram Nath Kovind presented Padma Awards at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-I held at Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening. Mr. Kovind presented Padma Vibhushan to CDS General Bipin Rawat and Radhey Shyam Khemka posthumously. Daughters of General Rawat, Kritika and Tarini and Khemka's son Krishna Kumar received the awards.
Veteran leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekharan, Paralympics Medalist Devendra Jhajharia, former Comptroller and Auditor General Rajiv Mehrishi, Managing Director of the Serum Institute of India Cyrus Poonawalla, welfare activist Sachchidanand Swami, Classical vocalist Rashid Khan received the Padma Bhushan. Singer Gurmeet Bawa was given the award posthumously.
Fifty-Four people were given Padma Shri Awards. They include Film and Television series Director Chandraprakash Dwivedi, 125-year-old yoga enthusiast of Varanasi Swami Sivanand, traditional doll maker from Manipur Konsam Ibomcha Singh, Kannada Author Siddalingaiah, progressive horticulture farmer Sethpal Singh, engineer and academician Dilip Shahani, veteran football player Bramhanand Sankhwalkar and Gond Painter Durga Bai Vyam.

Karnataka Bank Bags Award 'Best MSME Bank of the Year - Winner'

Karnataka Bank bagged Best MSME Bank of the year - "Winner" among Private Sector Banks at the ASSOCHAMs - 8th MSMEs Excellence Awards Ceremony and Summit. The award was received by Shri Gopalakrishna Samaga B, DGM, Credit Marketing Department on behalf of Karnataka Bank Ltd in the presence of Shri Narayan T. Rane, Hon'ble Minister, Ministry of MSME, Government of India.

Diébédo Francis Kéré: The First African to Win Architecture's Top Award

Burkino Faso-born architect, Diébédo Francis Kéré, became the first African to win the prestigious Pritzker Prize, which is often referred to as the Nobel Prize of architecture. His highly esteemed work, including permanent and temporary structures, has been erected in his country of birth, but also across Africa, Europe and the United States.
His decades-long journey to the top of his field was far from straightforward, with limited opportunities in his village.
Mr. Kéré designed a primary school in his home village of Gando as his first building in 2001.
The success of the primary school earnt Mr. Kéré the Aga Khan Award in 2004, which is awarded every three years to identify building projects that address the needs of societies with a large Muslim population.
The renown of the Gando School later paved the way for him to design more educational establishments, like Lycée Schorge, also in Burkina Faso.

R. Praggnanandhaa Awarded With 'Sankara' Accolade

India's teenage Grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa received the 'Sankara Award' of this year at a function held at Kalady. R Praggnanandhaa who defeated Chess World Champion Magnus Carlsen received the award as well as a cash reward of Rs. 1 Lakh. This yearly award is jointly given by Adi Sankara trust, Institute of Engineering College and Sree Sarada Vidyalaya situated in Kalady, Kerala.

Narayan Pradhan Selected for GD Birla Award for Scientific Research

Instituted in 1991, the award recognises eminent Indian scientists below the age of 50 for their original and outstanding contributions to any branch of science.
In March, 2022, Professor Narayan Pradhan has been selected for the 31st GD Birla Award for Scientific Research for his outstanding contribution in the field of material sciences. It carries a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh.
His research group has significantly contributed to the surface construction of the newly emerged light-emitting halide perovskite nanocrystals, which are expected to be the next-generation lighting materials for photovoltaics and making LEDs. He has provided his expertise in crystal modulations to help design new shapes of these tiny lighting materials.

Axis Bank Bags IFR Asia's Asian Bank of the Year and India Bond House Award

Axis Bank, India's third-largest private sector bank was awarded IFR Asia's Asian Bank of The Year 2021, for its breadth of coverage and depth of expertise in the Asian investment banking space. The award acknowledges the bank's outstanding performance in equity and debt issuance, across all major products and segments. Axis Bank was the only local house to serve as a global coordinator for the record Rs. 183 Bn Paytm IPO, and was also the global coordinator for Macrotech Developers' Rs. 25 Bn IPO.
Axis Bank is the third-largest private sector bank in India. Axis Bank offers the entire spectrum of services to customer segments covering Large and Mid-Corporates, SME, Agriculture and Retail Businesses. 75th BAFTA Award 2022 Announced

The 75th edition of the British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTA Award, was held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The awards, presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), honours the best national and foreign films of 2021. The ceremony was hosted by actress and comedian Rebel Wilson. The film that received maximum nominations was Dune, with 11 nominations.
Best Film: The Power of the Dog
Best Director: Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog
Best Actress in Leading Role: Joanna Scanlan, After Love
Best Actor in Leading Role: Will Smith, King Richard
British Academy Television Awards are presented annually to recognize the outstanding work in British Television. It is being given annually since 1955. It is mainly given to British programs.

Arun K. Shukla Conferred with the Khosla National Award 2021 (Sciences)

IIT Kanpur professor Arun K. Shukla, who studied under three Nobel laureates, was conferred with the Khosla National Award 2021 (Sciences) for his work in understanding the structure, function and modulation of G Protein-Coupled Receptors.
The award was presented by Prof. AK Chaturvedi, Director of IIT Roorkee.
Shukla received his Master's (MSc) in Biotechnology from the Center for Biotechnology at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
His research programme is focused on understanding the structure, function and regulation of G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs), the largest family of cell surface receptors in the human genome and the target of about half of the currently available medicines.
