BS Awards for Corporate Excellence 2021

An eight-member jury selected the winners of the Business Standard Annual Awards for Corporate Excellence 2021, and Mumbai-headquarterd Cipla was chosen as the Company of the Year by the stellar jury.
Mumbai-headquartered Cipla is the third-largest pharmaceutical company in India, the third-largest over-the-counter (OTC) player in South Africa, the eighth largest by prescription in the US, and the second-largest Indian exporter to the emerging markets. It was established in 1935.
The jury was chaired by Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla and included JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal, KKR India Senior Advisor Sanjay Nayar, AZB & Partners Founder and Managing Partner Zia Mody, EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani, McKinsey & Company Senior Partner Noshir Kaka, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Managing Partner Cyril Shroff, and Bain Capital Private Equity Chairman Amit Chandra.

Mata Vaishno Devi Board Bags Award for Water Conservation

President Ram Nath Kovind honoured the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for being the best in water conservation practices during the 'National Water Awards-2022' ceremony. Board's CEO Ramesh Kumar took the prize. The award was from the Ministry of Jal Shakti in recognition of the strides made by the board to promote water conservation and proper water management in the category of 'Best Institution/Resident Welfare Association/Religious Organisation for Campus Usage'. President Ram Nath Kovind appealed to the people to join the government's movement for water conservation. He asked the district administrations and sarpanches to play a special role in inspiring them to become its part. He also launched the 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain campaign 2022'.
Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu have secured the first, second and third prizes, respectively, in the best state category.

Actress Deepika Padukone Named in Inaugural TIME100 Impact Award

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone was named as one of the awardees of the TIME100 Impact Awards 2022. The actress got featured on the inaugural TIME100 Impact Awards list for her work in mental health struggles and raising awareness, through her LiveLoveLaugh Foundation. The award recognizes global leaders who have gone above and beyond to move their industries and the world forward.
Apart from Deepika, six other global leaders were also honoured with the award. The awards were presented at the Museum of the Future in Dubai.

Neeraj Chopra, Pramod Bhagat Receive Padma Shri

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra received the Padma Shri, the country's fourth highest civilian award. The 24-year-old javelin thrower received the prestigious award from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan during a ceremony. Paralympic gold medallist in badminton Pramod Bhagat was also conferred with the honour alongside Chopra.
Chopra made history at the Tokyo Olympics by becoming the first Indian to win a gold medal in a track and field event in the Games' history. He also became only the second Indian to win an individual Olympic gold after shooter Abhinav Bindra.

Mirabai Chanu Wins 'BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year' Award

Olympic silver medallist weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year award. Chanu created history in 2021 when she became the first Indian weightlifter to clinch a silver medal at the Summer Olympics.
Young India opener Shafali Verma was awarded the The 'BBC Emerging Player' award. The first Indian woman to have won a medal at the Olympics in 2000, former weightlifter Karnam Malleswari was presented the 'BBC Lifetime Achievement' award. Olympians and the Paralympians from the Tokyo Games were also honoured in this edition of BBC ISWOTY.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands MP Wins Sansad Ratna Award

Andaman and Nicobar Islands MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma was awarded the Sansad Ratna Award 2022. The award is recognition of his hard work in his constituency. He has also worked towards the rights of children in the area. The award was given by Chief Election Commissioner of India, Sushil Chandra, in the presence of Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal.

Will Smith Wins Best Actor Trophy at Oscars

Hollywood star Will Smith ended his dry run at the Oscars as he lifted the best actor trophy for "King Richard" minutes after he punched comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.The punch will go down in the Oscars history as one of the wildest moments after the 2017's mix up when "La La Land" was mistakenly named as the best picture instead of "Moonlight".
The 53-year-old star was previously nominated in the same category twice -- "Ali" and "The Pursuit of Happyness" -- but couldn't go all the way.The actor came into Oscar night as a clear favourite, having collected trophies at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Critics' Choice Awards.

Cochin International Airport Ltd bags Covid Champion Award at Wings India

The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) won the 'Covid champion' award at Wings India 2022. The Covid champion award was received by CIAL Managing Director S. Suhas IAS from Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia. CIAL was awarded for the successful implementation of a meticulous project named 'Mission Safeguarding' during the pandemic time to ensure safe travel at Kochi Airport.
The Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru won two the 'Best Airport' under the General Category and the 'Aviation Innovation' Award at the event. Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) won the 'Aviation Sustainability & Environment' award by Wings India Awards 2022 for its efficient green practices.
