Konark Festival

Konark Dance & Music Festival started in the year 1986 at Konark Natya Mandap by its Founder-Director Padmashree Guru Gangadhar Pradhan. In a sense it can be called the harbinger of the contemporary festivals of Orissa. The sole aim behind this festival is to bring in many artistes into its cultural family and creating of international cultural amity and brotherhood. This festival has established its own unique identity in the sense that eminent artistes of national and international repute participate and perform Odissi, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Mohiniattam and other classical, folk & tribal dances/music of our country on the enchanting stage of the Natyashala in the monumental Sun Temple, Konark. The stage and the atmosphere are magnified by the spiritual and aesthetic flavor, in the natural ambience of casuarinas and cashew trees. This festival is held every year from 19^th to 23^rd February.

Taj Mahotsav

The Taj Festival in Agra is an annual extravaganza that reveals the rich cultural heritage of our country and displays the finest specimens of Indian craftsmanship. All year long the people of Uttar Pradesh wait expectantly for this festival held at Silpagram near Taj Mahal.
The Taj Festival in Agra begins from 18th - 27th Feb with a grand procession that makes one reminiscent of the magnificence of the Mughal era. Elephants and Camels are brilliantly decorated, drum beaters are adorned with finery, folk artistes blessed with immense talents and master craftsmen possessing remarkable dexterity in their respective fields are all gorgeously attired when they participate in this lavish procession.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: 4th National Conference Held in Udaipur

The fourth National Conference of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima yojana was held in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The Conference was organised by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The Conference was attended by more than 140 members. It included members from NABARD (National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development), RBI (Reserve Bank of India), insurance companies, etc.

Global Meet with Focus on Conservation Begins

Representatives from 130 countries will discuss the priorities for conservation of migratory species for the next decade at the 13th Conference of Parties (COP) to the Convention on Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) in Gujarat's Gandhinagar from February 17 to 22.
The CMS is an international agreement signed under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Programme in 1979 to conserve migratory species within their migratory ranges.
The discussions at the CMS-COP 13 will focus on international cooperation for maintaining and restoring ecological connectivity and species-based conservation efforts.

BioAsia at HICC

BioAsia, the flagship event of biotechnology industry, is held from February 17 to 19 at the HICC in Hyderabad. The theme for BioAsia 2020 is `Today For Tomorrow'. Switzerland is part of the event as a partner country.
The event is a platform for deliberating emerging technologies and also for forging partnerships among different stakeholders. It is also be a platform for startups to showcase their products or services for the biotechnology industry.
This is the 17th edition of the industry event.

GSMA Calls Off Mobile World Congress Event

The Mobile World Congress (MWC), the annual telecom industry gathering that draws more than 100,000 visitors to Barcelona, was cancelled after a mass exodus by exhibitors due to fears over the coronavirus outbreak.
Bowing to the inevitable, the GSMA telecom association that hosts the get-together said that it had cancelled the February 24-27 event despite assurances from local and national health officials that it would have been safe to hold it.

43rd Governing Council Meet of IFAD 2020 held in Rome, Italy

A 2-day long 43rd session of the annual Governing Council meeting of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) 2020 based on the theme "Investing in sustainable food systems to end hunger by 2030" was held at FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation) headquarters in Rome, Italy from February 11- 12, 2020.
The event, opened by President of the Republic of Mali , Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, witnessed interactive sessions on how IFAD's role and experience in supporting sustainable, inclusive, nutritious and efficient food systems place it in a unique position to contribute to eliminate hunger.
It was also announced at the meet that the UN (United Nations) will not be able to achieve the target of Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 due to the lack of funds and it will be achieved only by 2040 with an annual investment of more than $115 billion.

Debaters Shine at IIMT and Daulat Ram

Delhi-NCR's biggest inter-collegiate debating competition, Federal Bank Speak For India Delhi Edition, in association with Hindustan Times and Hindustan, drew an overwhelming response from students who gathered to portray their debating skills on stage in the audition rounds at IIMT, Greater Noida and Daulat Ram College.
Over 140 students took the stage to try their chance for the coveted prizes and scholarship worth over Rs. 5 lakh.
It was an extremely powerful and impactful platform created by Hindustan Times in association with Federal Bank as students got the right stage to address their views and showcase the talent in front of a large audience. Such events help in bringing out great talent who can be great leaders of a new India.
