All Souls' Day

All Souls' Day, also known as the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed and the Day of the Dead, is a day of prayer and remembrance for the souls of those who have died, which is observed by Catholics and other Christian denominations annually on 2nd November.
All Souls' Day is often celebrated in Western Christianity; Saturday of Souls is a related tradition more frequently observed in Eastern Christianity.
Practitioners of All Souls' Day traditions often remember deceased loved ones in various ways on the day. Beliefs and practices associated with All Souls' Day vary widely among Christian churches and denominations.

Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping to Meet Thrice in November

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to meet thrice at three different virtual summits in the month of November.
They will take part in; the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Heads of State summit on November 10, the BRICS summit on November 17 and the G20 summit on November 21-22.
Russia will chair the BRICS and SCO grouping and the G20 summit will be hosted by Saudi Arabia.

All Saints' Day

All Saints' Day, also known as All Hallows' Day, Hallowmas, the Feast of All Saints, or Solemnity of All Saints, is a Christian solemnity celebrated in honour of all the saints, known and unknown. Its intent is to celebrate all the saints, including those who do not, or no longer, are celebrated individually, either because the number of saints has become so great or because they were celebrated in groups, after suffering martyrdom collectively. The feast may have started in the Christian community in Antioch. Its date, 1st November, was set by Pope Gregory III and extended to the whole church by Pope Gregory IV.
In Western Christianity, it is still celebrated on 1 November by the Roman Catholic Church as well as many Protestant churches. The Eastern Orthodox Church and associated Eastern Catholic and Byzantine Lutheran churches celebrate it on the first Sunday after Pentecost. The Church of the East and associated Eastern Catholic churches celebrate All Saints' Day on the first Friday after Easter.

National Unity Day

National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31 every year since 2014.
He played a crucial role in the unification of India as we see it today. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is also known as the Iron Man of India. He relentlessly fought against the British for the freedom of India. People celebrate the day by remembering Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his contribution to the unification of India.
This year (2020) it is the 145th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, who strived hard to bring 562 princely states into the fold of the Union of India.
Sardar fought against the British Empire and became the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of independent India.

World Thrift Day

World Thrift Day is observed every year on 30th October. It was previously known as World Thrift Day.
It is celebrated in many countries around the world to promote the importance of savings for the country's economy and the individuals. As we all know savings is a necessity for the global economy and every depositor contributes to its development.
World Thrift Day was first introduced on 30th October 1924 to encourage the importance of bank savings and restore people's confidence in banks. It was established during the 1st International Savings Bank Congress (World Society of Savings Banks) In Milan, Italy.

Virtual Festival of 'Parampara Series 2020- National Festival of Music & Dance'

The Vice President, M. Venkaiah Naidu launched the virtual festival of 'Parampara Series 2020-National Festival of Music and Dance' organised by Natya Tarangini in partnership with the United Nations.
He appreciated Natya Tarangini for organising the 'Parampara Series' continuously since past 23 years, and adopting innovative efforts to make it happen for the 24th year in difficult times like this. 'Parampara' means 'tradition', the transmission of cultural treasure house from one generaion to the next.
