India Ships First Akash Air Defence Missile System Battery to Armenia
India marked another milestone in its defence export as it shipped the first Akash weapon system battery to Armenia.
The Akash system, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization is a surface-to-air missile (SAM) which can hit targets like fighter jets, missiles (cruise, air-to-surface), drones and other aerial assets to a range of 25 km.
Manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), each battery of Akash weapon system is accompanied by a single Rajendra 3D passive electronically scanned array radar and four launchers with three missiles each, all of which are interlinked.
The 7th Annual India-Sri Lanka Coast Guard Meet
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) held their 7th Annual High-Level Meeting in Colombo. The meeting was attended by a four-member ICG delegation, led by Director General S. Paramesh, and a SLCG delegation headed by Director General Rear Admiral Y. R. Serasinghe.
The meeting emphasised cooperation between the two coast guards to address regional maritime challenges.
The meeting focused on issues such as, Drug trafficking in the maritime domain, Marine pollution and measures for cleaner oceans, Safety of mariners and maritime rescue operations, Adoption of best practices for effective maritime governance, Capacity-building programs to enhance skills and knowledge sharing and Development of other collaborative arrangements for better coordination.
This meeting follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Indian Coast Guard and Sri Lanka Coast Guard in May 2018, which formalised the annual meeting structure.

India's First Ever Tri-service Space Exercise Antariksha Abhyas Begins in Delhi
In a first, the tri-service exercise 'Antariksha Abhyas 2024', a three-day exercise aiming to secure India's national strategic objectives in space, was held in Delhi.
The exercise was conducted by the Defence Space Agency of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff.
The exercise helped secure national strategic objectives in space and integrate India's space capability into military operations.
Specialist branches under Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff viz Defence Cyber Agency, Defence Intelligence Agency and Strategic Forces Command were also active participants in the exercise. Representatives from the ISRO and the DRDO also took part in this exercise.
Launch of India's First C-295 Full Motion Simulator
The country's first and only C-295 full motion simulator was launched at the Agra Air Force Station. Training related to the C-295 aircraft will be done at the Agra Air Force Station itself. It is equipped with many state-of-the-art facilities.
Central Air Command, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit inaugurated the Indian Air Force C-295 Full Motion Simulator (FMS) facility in Agra.
This simulator enables pilots to train in a nearly realistic environment by simulating multiple missions such as tactical shift, para-dropping, para-trooping, medical evacuation and disaster relief. This facility will significantly enhance the operational capability of the C-295 fleet.

India-Australia Joint Military Exercise 'AUSTRAHIND' in Pune
A joint military exercise between India and Australia began in Pune with an aim to promote cooperation through enhancement of interoperability in the conduct of joint sub-conventional operations in semi-urban environment in semi-desert terrain under the relevant chapter of the UN mandate. The third edition of 'Exercise AUSTRAHIND' is being conducted in two phases -- combat conditioning and tactical training, and validation.
The two sides will also share their best practices in tactics, techniques and procedures of conducting tactical operations during the joint exercise at the Foreign Training Node till November 21.
'Exercise AUSTRAHIND' is an annual event conducted alternatively in India and Australia. The last edition was held in Australia in December 2023.
