No Place for Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo in Robin van Persie's top Three for Ballon d'Or Award

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has named three players who deserve to win this year's Ballon d'Or award and surprisingly star players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are not among them.
Messi lifted the award for four consecutive years from 2009 onwards before picking the honour again in 2015 and 2019.
Ronaldo, on the other hand, won his first Ballon d'Or award in 2008 before winning it in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.
According to Robin van Persie, Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski deserves to win football's most coveted individual trophy. Meanwhile, Manchester Premier's Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool's Sadio Mane will make it to top three.

BCCI President Announces Cancellation of Asia Cup in September

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly announced the cancellation of the Asia Cup, which was scheduled to be held in September.
With T20 World Cup in October-November also unlikely to go ahead in Australia due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Asia Cup's cancellation allows the BCCI to have a full-fledged IPL in the same window.
The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that they have agreed to host the event in 2022 and Sri Lanka is now expected to host the tournament next year following the cancellation of this year's edition.

Amit Panghal Secures Top Spot in AIBA World Men's Ranking 2020

The International Boxing Association (AIBA) released the world rankings 2020 for women's and men's boxing, as per which Indian amateur boxer and World championships silver medallist Amit Panghal was ranked first in the world ranking of main elites of 52 kg weight category with a total of 1300 points. At the same time, Manju Rani got the second place in women's rankings in 48 kg with 1175 points.

IOA Adopts New Visual Identity to Celebrate 100 Years of Participation in Olympic Games

To mark the 100th year of Indian participation in the Olympic Games the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) adopted a new visual identity (Logos). The logo celebrates the contribution of the athletes and the officials all over the world towards Team India.
The newly adopted logo is a symbol representing India's identity and IOA's value in sports.
The tricolour(Tiranga) infused in the typography is a celebration of the Indian pride, the flag at full-mast representing the pride, dignity and the determined hard work of the athletes and the officials.
The identity represents the value of unity, friendship and merit that are upheld by the IOA.
These logos are approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The IOA will hold a special launch event of the logo on 15th August 2020.

Akash Becomes India's 66th Grandmaster

Tamil Nadu's G. Akash became the country's 66th chess Grandmaster while his statemate M. Pranesh and Goa's Ameya Audi earned International Master titles.
Akash's GM title was confirmed at the second council meet of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) for the year 2020 held earlier.
Having won the national title in 2012 and earned the IM title subsequently, Akash took a break to pursue an engineering degree in 2014. He made a comeback in 2018 and worked hard to earn his coveted GM title.

World Zoonoses Day

Zoonoses Day which is observed on July 6 every year to commemorate the scientific achievement of administering first vaccination against a zoonotic disease. Zoonoses are infectious diseases caused by bacteria, viruses and parasites that spread between animals and humans.
It was on July 6, 1885, when Louis Pasteur successfully administered the first vaccine against Rabies virus, a zoonotic disease. Approximately 150 zoonotic diseases are known to exist. Zoonoses can spread from direct contact with animals or indirectly, vector-borne or food-borne.
Some of the most common zoonotic diseases are: Plague, Tuberculosis, Cat Scratch Fever, Tick Paralysis Hantavirus, Ringworm, Salmonellosis and many more.
Louis Pasteur was a French biologist, microbiologist and chemist renowned for his discoveries of the principles of vaccination, microbial fermentation and pasteurization. He is remembered for his remarkable breakthroughs in the causes and prevention of diseases, and his discoveries have saved many lives ever since. He reduced mortality from puerperal fever, and created the first vaccines for rabies and anthrax.
