IOC Remains Fully Committed to Staging Tokyo Olympics in 2021

According to IOC President Thomas Bach, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) remains fully committed to staging the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 and is considering multiple scenarios for them to take place safely.
Japan and the IOC postponed the Tokyo Games until 2021 in March because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Organisers have since spoken of trying to simplify the event - which had been due to start on July 24 - to reduce costs and ensure athletes` safety.

FIFA Announces Schedule for World Cup 2022

FIFA announced the schedule for the World Cup 2022, where the hosts, Qatar, will kick-off the tournament at the Al Bayt Stadium on November 21, 2022.
The Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan, that hosted the Asian Games, the Gulf Cup, the AFC Asian Cup and five matches of the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup, will see the play-off match for the third place in December 2020.
The final will kick off on December 18 at the Lusail Stadium which has a capacity to accommodate 80,000 people.
According to FIFA, the group stage will last for 12 days with an aim to provide all teams with optimal rest between their matches.

La Liga: Real Madrid on Brink of Title after Win at Granada

Real Madrid defeated Granada 2-1 to move within two points of winning the Spanish league. Ferland Mendy and Karim Benzema scored first-half goals to give Madrid its ninth straight win and keep Zinedine Zidane's team four points ahead of second-placed Barcelona with two rounds to go. The Catalan club won at Valladolid. Madrid, which has won every match since the league resumed after the pandemic break, can clinch its first title since 2017 with a win at Villarreal, or if Barcelona loses points when it hosts Osasuna. Two draws in the final two rounds will also be enough to secure Madrid a record 34th league trophy.

Ben Stokes Becomes Second-fastest to Reach 4,000 runs and 150 Wickets in Test Cricket

England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is currently leading his national side against West Indies in the absence of regular Test skipper Joe Root, has added another feather in his already illustrious cap by becoming the second-fastest cricketer to complete 4,000 runs and 150 wickets in the longest format of the game.
The first cricketer to complete 4,000 runs and 150 wickets in the longest format is West Indies' Gary Sobers.

Wimbledon Will Pay $12.5 Million Prize Money to 620 Players

The All England Club said that Wimbledon will pay out $12.5 million in prize money to 620 players despite the tournament's cancellation because of the coronavirus pandemic.
After consulting with its insurance provider, club officials said 256 players who would have competed in the main draw will each receive 25,000 pounds ($31,000), while 224 players who would have competed in qualifying will each receive 12,500 pounds ($15,600).
In addition, 120 players who would have competed in doubles will each receive 6,250 pounds ($7,800); 16 players who would have competed in the wheelchair events will each receive 6,000 pounds ($7,500); and four players who would have competed in the quad wheelchair events will each receive 5,000 pounds ($6,200).
