India veteran Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Denis Shapovalov stunned sixth seeds Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in a hard-fought three-setter to advance to the quarter-finals of the US Open men's doubles event.
Bopanna and Shapovalov will take on Dutch-Romanian combination of Jeal-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau in the quarter-finals.
Bopanna is the lone surviving Indian in the tournament after the exit of Sumit Nagal and Divij Sharan.

Harbhajan Singh Pulls Out of Indian Premier League 2020
In another major blow to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), senior off-spinner Harbhajan Singh became the second high-profile name to pull out of 2020's Indian Premier League (IPL) citing personal reasons.
He said that the CSK management has been extremely supportive to him and wish them a great IPL. " Dear Friends I will not be playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are difficult times and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family.
Harbhajan is one of the most successful bowlers in the history of IPL with 150 wickets. The 40-year-old, who has been a part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team during the past two years is currently in Jalandhar, Punjab with his family.
The 2020 IPL is slated to take place from September 19 to November 10 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The lucrative T20 tournament was earlier postponed indefinitely by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to coronavirus pandemic.

Ivan Rakitic parted ways with the Spanish club, FC Barcelona, after spending six years and winning 13 trophies, to rejoin Sevilla.
The Swiss-born Croatian joined FC Barcelona from Sevilla in 2014 and became the foreigner with the fourth-most appearances ever for Barca, only topped by Leo Messi, Dani Alves and Javier Mascherano. He also has the most appearances for a European foreigner.
With Barca, the 32-year old won one Champions League, four each La Liga and Copa del Rey titles, and one each Club World Cup, European Super Cup, along with two Spanish Super Cups.

Shree Cement to Acquire Football Club East Bengal
Ending months of speculation on the investor front, Kolkata's iconic football club East Bengal has roped in Bangur controlled Shree Cement.
The acquisition comes as a shot in the arm for East Bengal which now has a fair chance of entering this year's Indian Super League (ISL).
The announcement was made in the presence of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who played a key role in helping the club get over the phase of financial difficulty after the club parted ways with Bengaluru-based Quess Corp.
Kolkata-headquartered Shree Cement, amongst the country's largest cement makers will pick-up a majority stake of 76 % in the club.
The investments will be made across the board including revamping of the club's operation. The club's logo and jersey colours - it's red and yellow pattern - will be retained.

Centre Increases Disciplines for Recruitment of Sportspersons in Govt. Jobs
The Centre has included 20 more sports disciplines like tug-of-war, mallakhamb and para-sports among others for direct recruitment of meritorious sportspersons in Group C level government posts.
The move comes following a proposal from the Department of Sports for inclusion of some more disciplines in the list of 43 sports for recruitment of sportspersons to any Group C post in ministries/departments of government of India.
It has now been decided to accept the recommendation of Department of Sports.
Accordingly, the list of sports/games for the purpose of recruitment of sportspersons by government of India is revised to have 63 sports disciplines.
according to existing instructions, sportspersons who have represented a state or the country in national or international competitions in any of the 63 games/sports are eligible for appointment for Group C level posts.
Sportspersons who have been awarded national awards in physical efficiency under the National Physical Efficiency Drive, among others, are also eligible for the appointment to such posts.
No such appointments can be made unless the candidate is, in all respects, eligible for appointment to the post applied for, and in particular, with regard to age, educational or experience qualifications prescribed under the recruitment rules applicable to the post, except to the extent to which relaxations thereof have been permitted in respect of class/category of persons to which the applicant belongs, said the Personnel Ministry's instructions issued in 2013.
