India to Develop Reusable Rockets for the World: ISRO Chairman

India plans to develop reusable rockets for the world, government officials informed. The agency will design and build new reusable rockets for the global markets in order to cut the cost of launching satellites.
The agency chief while addressing the seventh 'Bengaluru Space Expo 2022' noted that currently, it takes $10,000 to $ 15000 to put a one-kg payload into orbit. "We have to bring it down to USD 5,000 or even USD 1,000 per kg. The only way to do that is to make the rocket reusable. Today in India we don't have reusable technology yet in launch vehicles (rockets)," he said.

CERT-In conducts Exercise Cyber Security Exercise "Synergy"

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, in collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, successfully designed and conducted the Cyber Security Exercise "Synergy" for 13 Countries. The Group is led by India under the leadership of the National Security Council Secretariat.
The theme of the exercise was "Building Network Resiliency to counter Ransomware Attacks". The exercise scenario was derived from real-life cyber incidents, in which a domestic level (limited impact) ransomware incident escalates to a global cyber security crisis.
The Exercise "Synergy" was hosted by CERT-In on its exercise simulation platform. Each State participated as a National Crisis Management Team having composition from different government agencies.

NASA Postpones Artemis I Mission to Moon as Team Fails to Fix Fuel Leak Issue

NASA called off the launch attempt for the much-anticipated mission to send a rocket around the moon, marking the second time within a week that engineers decided to scrub the flight due to mechanical issues.
The scratched launch followed a hydrogen leak in the engine cavity, which prevented NASA engineers from fully loading liquid hydrogen into the rocket. The issue will need to be resolved before NASA's Artemis I mission can lift off. A similar leak was one of several issues that contributed to the space agency's decision to postpone an attempt on August 29.

MAVEN and EMM Orbiters Observe 'Patchy' Proton Aurora on Mars

Even though Mars does not have a global magnetic field like the Earth, it still possesses multiple kinds of aurora. One of these is proton aurora, which is thought to form mainly by an indirect process that allows a small fraction of the solar wind to rain down on the Red Planet uniformly across the dayside. Now, NASA's MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN) mission and UAE's Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) have spotted 'patchy' proton aurora on Mars. This type of aurora is mostly the result of plasma turbulence, which under some circumstances leads to direct deposition of the solar wind across the entire Martian dayside, with a potentially large impact on long term atmosphere and water loss from the planet.
A proton aurora is a type of Martian aurora that forms as the solar wind, made up of charged particles from the Sun, interacts with the planet's upper atmosphere.

IIT Madras, IIS- Karnataka Partner to Develop Boxing Analytics Software

Indian Institute of Technology Madras researchers along with Inspire Institute of Sports (IIS) in Bellary, Karnataka, are developing a cost-effective boxing analytics platform to increase India's boxing medal tally at the 2024 Olympics.
An analytics platform called 'Smartboxer,' being developed as a multi-version software by the Center of Excellence for Sports Science and Analytics at IIT Madras, will provide an above-par competitive edge to Indian athletes. It will provide feedback and performance assessments using Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled wearable sensors and video cameras.
'Smartboxer' will be deployed to analyse the boxers' performance at Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS). Based on the feedback from IIS, changes will be incorporated into the 'Smartboxer' analytics platform. This will enable the software to be effectively used to assist coaches and boxers. This will aid in solving sporting problems and designing better sports equipment.

Beijing Tops, Bengaluru 2nd in Asia-Pacific in Tech Hubs

Bengaluru ranked second in the Asia Pacific region in the top tech hubs list and is only behind China's Beijing, according to a report by Cushman and Wakefield. The report, called 'Tech Cities: The Global Intersection of Talent and Real Estate', studied as many as 115 different 'tech cities' across the globe. After Beijing and Bengaluru, the list has three other Indian cities, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad. Mumbai and Pune also made it to the top-10 list with eighth and ninth position in a list of 14 cities from the APAC.
The study considered factors such as talent, real estate and business environment to assess and evaluate the cities.
