Google Acquires Cyber-security Company Mandiant for $5.4 Billion
Global technology major Google has announced to complete the $5.4 billion acquisition of cyber-security firm Mandiant. According to Google Cloud chief executive officer (CEO) Thomas Kurian, Mandiant would join Google Cloud to help organisations improve their threat, incident and exposure management.
Mandiant is known for unearthing the SolarWinds hack that shook the world. Several big companies, including tech giants like Intel, Cisco, VMware and Nvidia, suffered part of the SolarWinds hack allegedly orchestrated by Russia-backed cybercriminals.

Hughes, ISRO Launch a Satellite Internet Service
Hughes Communication India (HCI) collaborated with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), and launched its first high throughput satellite (HTS) broadband internet service in the country. Since last year, the company has been testing its operations in northern India.
Through the first high throughout satellite (HTS) broadband internet service, the company promised to deliver high-speed satellite broadband service to remote locations across India from the desolate part of Leh Ladakh to the northeastern part of India.
The company is assisting the Indian Army and Paramilitary forces patrolling the LAC and other remote border outputs with the help of HTS Technology.
The launch event was facilitated by the ISRO Chairman S. Somnath.
Gadkari to Unveil India's First Flex Engine-run Car on September 28
India's first flex engine-run car, which has been manufactured by Toyota Kirloskar Motor, will be unveiled on September 28 in Delhi by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
Flex engine is an internal combustion engine that can run on one fuel or a blended fuel, such as petrol mixed with ethanol.

MeitY Start-up Hub Joins Hands with Meta to Support XR Technology Start-ups
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's start-up hub and social media giant Meta joined hands to launch an accelerator programme to support the growth of extended reality or XR technology-based start-ups across India.
As a part of the tie-up, the IT ministry's start-up hub and Meta would support 40 early-stage start-ups working in the field of XR technologies with a grant of Rs. 20 lakh each. The program wpuld also encourage early-stage innovators working on XR technology in sectors such as education, learning and skills, healthcare, gaming, entertainment, agritech, climate action, tourism and sustainability.

China Discovers New Mineral on Moon
Chinese researchers discovered a new mineral that has not been found on Earth so far. The diamond-shaped mineral has been found in the samples returned from the Moon by the Chang'e-5 lunar probe and was aptly named Changesite-(Y). The samples were brought to Earth in 2020.
The discovery was announced by Dong Baotong, vice chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority. It is a phosphate mineral in columnar crystals found in lunar basalt particles.
Changesite-(Y) is the sixth mineral discovered on the Moon by humans, since the dawn of time and the beginning of lunar exploration. The mineral was found in samples retrieved from a region of the Moon, which is about 1 billion years younger than where the US and former Soviet Union retrieved samples.

Water-rich Exoplanets Discovered Outside Our Solar System
In a major accomplishment in the investigation of life beyond our Earth, researchers found a third category of exoplanets, rich in water, revolving around the red dwarf stars, the most common and long-lived stars. It is an epochal step because, for the first time, the habitability of other planets can be scientifically proven.
