DRDO Chief Lays Foundation Stone of Kalam Centre for Science and Technology

  • Defence R&D Secretary and DRDO Chairman Dr. G Satheesh Reddy laid the foundation stone for construction of the Kalam Centre for Science and Technology (KCST) in the campus of Central University of Jammu.
  • Reddy said that KCST will emerge as a focussed research and prominent work centre in the country.

NTA Launches National Aptitude Test for Skill Assessment

  • National Testing Agency, NTA, launched a National Aptitude Test (NAT 2021), an ability profiler exam for students aged 13 to 25. It aims to guide students toward the right institutions and skills training. Candidates can register themselves at the official website of NAT, nat.nta.ac.in. NTA conducts national medical and engineering exams, NEET and JEE Main.
  • NAT 2021 will be conducted at four levels for different age groups-Level 1 (13-15 Years), level 2 (16-18 Years), level 3 (19-21 years), level 4 (22-25 Years). The exam will be conducted on October 23 and 24 in an internet-based mode within a duration of two hours.

Union Cabinet Approves Affiliation of 100 Schools in Govt., Private Sector with Sainik School Soc...

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the proposal of affiliating Sainik Schools under Sainik Schools Society, the Ministry of Defence (MoD). These schools will function as an exclusive vertical which will be distinct and different from existing Sainik Schools of MoD. In the first phase, 100 affiliate partners are proposed to be drawn from states/NGOs/ private partners.

Arvind Kejriwal Launches 'Desh Ke Mentor' Programme

  • Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a programme under which students of Delhi government schools will be provided guidance on career choices by citizens who are successful in their respective fields. The 'Desh ke mentor' programme entails 'adopting' 1 to 10 government school students who can be mentored by citizens who are successful in their respective fields.
  • The programme will be for a minimum of two months and can carry on for another four months optionally. One mentor will be assigned between two to five students.

All Government Schools Will Get CBSE Affiliation by 2024: Andhra Pradesh CM

  • In an important move in school education, Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials of the education department to take measures to get CBSE affiliation for all state government schools and ensure all students write CBSE exams in 2024.
  • The Chief Minister also said that every school should have a playground and directed the officials to map schools that do not have playgrounds. The officials have been told to acquire required lands and allot playgrounds to those schools.

IIT Kanpur, University of Queensland Conduct Path-breaking Research in Inflammatory Diseases

  • IT Kanpur and the University of Queensland (UQ) have collaborated on path-breaking international research in chronic inflammatory disease.
  • The findings throw new light on a protein receptor, C5aR2, that plays an important role in the moderation of many immune and inflammatory processes and explores its use as a potential therapeutic target for treating multiple chronic inflammatory diseases.
  • The research saw international collaboration between Professor Arun Shukla, IIT Kanpur, India with researchers Asuka Inoue, Tohoku University, Japan and Stéphane A Laporte, McGill University, Canada.
  • This is the first time that researchers have identified key molecules within the immune system that may help fight the inflammation that drives chronic inflammatory diseases.
