AK Walia, Senior Congress Leader and Former Delhi Minister, Passes Away
Senior Congress leader and former Delhi Minister Dr AK Walia passed away in Delhi due to COVID-19 at the age of 72 .
Dr AK Walia was a prominent name in the party's Delhi unit. He was one of the few to have served four terms as a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
The four-time MLA had represented Laxmi Nagar assembly constituency in his fourth term and had the Health, Urban Development, Land & Building portfolios.

Chad President Idriss Deby Dies
Chad's President Idriss Deby died while visiting troops on the frontline of a fight against northern rebels, the day after Deby was declared the winner of a presidential election.
Deby's son, Mahamat Kaka, was named interim President by a transitional council of military officers.
Deby came to power in a rebellion in 1990 and was one of Africa's longest-ruling leaders. He and his army have been seen as a reliable Western ally in a turbulent region afflicted by jihadists.
Former Reserve Bank Governor Maidavolu Narasimham Passes Away
Former Reserve Bank of India Governor Maidavolu Narasimham, famously known as the father of Indian banking reforms, passed away at the age of 94.
He was born in 1927 and hails from Mydavolu village of Guntur District in Andhra Pradesh.
Narasimham was the 13th governor of RBI and he served as the central bank head from May 2, 1977 to November 30, 1977.
Narasimham was the first and so far the only governor to be appointed from the Reserve Bank cadre, having joined the Bank as a Research Officer in the Economic Department. He later joined the government and prior to his appointment as governor he served as Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs.
Kannada writer, editor, lexicographer and critic Ganjam Venkatasubbiah passed away. The writer was 107-years-old.
Ganjam Venkatasubbiah was a recipient of the Kannada Sahitya Akademi Award, the Pampa Award and contributed significantly to the world of Kannada Lexicography.
Venkatasubbia was known for his work 'Igo Kannada', an eclectic mix of Kannada phrases, usages, idioms, phrases, and serves as a reference for linguists and sociologists.
He was renowned as a walking encyclopaedia of the language and culture.
Former US Vice-President Walter Mondale Passes Away
Former US Vice-President Walter Mondale died in Minneapolis aged 93.
Mr. Mondale was Jimmy Carter's running mate for his winning 1976 presidential bid and defeat four years later.
Mr. Carter said that he considered Mr. Mondale the best vice-president in our country's history.
Mr. Mondale lost heavily to Ronald Reagan in the 1984 presidential election, securing only his home state of Minnesota and Washington DC.
Mr. Mondale is also remembered for choosing Geraldine Ferraro of New York as his running mate - the first woman on a major-party presidential ticket.

Former Assam CM Bhumidhar Barman Passes Away
Former Assam Chief Minister and seven-time MLA, Dr. Bhumidhar Barman, passed away in Guwahati. He was 90.
The government of Assam has declared a three-day state mourning.
Dr. Barman held the post of Chief Minister between April 1996 and May 1996 following the death of former CM Hiteshwar Saikia, and later in 2010, when former CM late Tarun Gogoi was on leave on medical grounds. Dr Barman, a graduate of the Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, has represented the Lower Assam constituencies of Nalbari West, Dharmapur and Barkhetry.
While his tenure as Chief Minister both times was brief, he served as a Cabinet Minister, holding important portfolios such as Health, Education and Revenue in the Hiteswar Saikia and Tarun Gogoi governments.
