Electricity from Flowing Blood

Scientists have created a path-breaking system that has the potential to surpass their previous developments – a lightweight power generator that can convert even the energy of flowing blood into electricity.
Researchers from Fudan University in China have developed a fibre with a thickness of less than a millimetre that generates electrical power when surrounded by flowing saline solution – in a thin tube or even in a blood vessel.

Airtel 4G Smartphone

India's largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel in talks with multiple handset makers to bring a 4G smartphone for a price as low as Rs. 2,500-2.700 to take on Reliance Jio.
As per reports, the new 4G smartphone - that will debut around Diwali - will come bundled with Airtel's 4G connection and attractive data and voice plan to woo mass market customers.

Boron Discovered on Mars

Scientists have discovered boron on Mars that gives support to the theory that the ancient red planet may have once been habitable.
Borates were detected in a crater on Mars that's 3.8 billion years old, younger than the likely formation of life on Earth.
The discovery of boron is only one of several recent findings related to the composition of Martian rocks.

Massive Black Hole Detected

Astronomers have detected a massive black hole which they claim is 100,000 times bigger than our sun.
If confirmed, the object will rank as the second largest blackhole in the Milky Way after the supermassive Sagittarius A* which is located at the very centre of the galaxy.

Smartwatches to Record Your Every Move

Scientists have invented a new algorithm that empowers smartwatches to detect and record your every move, without being told beforehand what to look for.
Current smartwatches can recognise a limited number of particular activities, including yoga and running, but these are programmed in advance.
This new method, scheduled to be presented at International Symposium on Wearable Computers to be held in Hawaii from September 11-15 enables the technology to discover activities as they happen.

Device That Can Turn Heat Energy to Fuel

Scientists have developed a device that could turn the heat generated by electronics into a usable fuel source, an advance that may help save energy.
The device is a multicomponent, multi layered composite material called a van der Waals Schottky diode.
It converts heat into electricity up to three times more efficiently than silicon - a semiconductor material widely used in the electronics industry.
