Chinese Space Station to Crash

According to the European Space Agency, a Chinese space station could smash into a major city early next year.
Experts claimed that the 8.5-tonne Tiangong-1, or “Heavenly Palace”, has gone out of control and headed towards the earth.
The station would crash between January and March.

Automatic Weather Station on Ben Nevis

Researchers have installed an automatic meteorological station on Ben Nevis (the highest mountain in the British Isles) that digitally collects information on temperatures, wind speeds and rainfall levels.

Two Navigation Satellites Launched

China, which is building its own navigation system to rival United States GPS, has launched two BeiDou-3 satellites into space through a single carrier rocket.
The two newly-launched satellites represent the third phase of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System.
If everything goes according to the plan, China will become the third country in the world after the US and Russia to operate its own navigation system.

ISRO Announces Launch of Cartosat-2

After launching its earth observation satellite Cartosat-2 along with 30 co-passenger satellites in June this year, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to flag off the satellite once again, this time with 28 foreign satellites riding piggy-back in December.
There will be 25 nano satellites and three micro satellites from the US and other countries as co-passengers along the space firm's own satellite of the Cartosat-2 series.

World's First Robot with a Citizenship

Saudi Arabia has become the first country in the world to grant a citizenship to a robot named Sophia.
Sophia, the female robot, has been developed by a Hong Kong firm called Hanson Robots.
This move has been taken to promote the country as a place that has taken Artificial Intelligence to a totally different level.

Jurassic-era `fish lizard' fossil found in India

A near-completely fossilized skeleton of Jurassic-era ichthyosaur a type of marine reptile or `fish lizard' in Greek that lived alongside dinosaur has been discovered for the first time in India from Kutch district of Gujarat.The 5.5-metre-long skeleton was discovered in January 2016 by a team of Indo-German geologists near the Kaas hills on the outskirts of Bhuj town. At that time, it was believed to be fossil of a dinosaur. However, after studying the fossil for more than a year, the experts have concluded that the fossil was of ichthyosaur from the Jurassic era and was the first to be found in India.

The present ichthyosaur find represents the first nearly complete articulated skeleton of an ichthyosaur from India and the first record from the Jurassic of India.
