New Aadhaar App Launches

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched its new Aadhaar app, offering 140 crore citizens a secure way to carry their digital Aadhaar card on smartphones. The free app is now available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, eliminating the need to carry physical Aadhaar cards for identity verification. The Aadhar app introduces facial recognition technology, biometric locks, and QR code-based sharing to protect user privacy. Families can now manage up to five Aadhaar profiles on a single device, provided all cards share the same registered mobile number.

- Multi-Profile management: Add Aadhaar cards for up to five family members in one app when linked to the same mobile number, making it easy to manage household identities.
- Biometric security lock: Activate biometric authentication to lock your Aadhaar data, ensuring only you can access or share your information until you unlock it.
- Selective data sharing: Control your privacy by choosing exactly what to reveal—share only your name and photo while hiding your address or date of birth when not needed.
- QR code verification: Generate and scan Aadhaar QR codes for quick, paperless verification at banks, government offices, and service centers.
- Offline mode access: View your saved Aadhaar details without internet connection after the initial setup, though online access unlocks full functionality.
- Usage history monitoring: Track when, where, and how your Aadhaar has been used through the app's built-in activity log for added security.

India Leads Global Adoption of Google Gemini's AI Tutoring Tool

India emerged as the world's number one country for using Guided Learning, Google's new Socratic AI tutoring feature built into Gemini, the company announced. The rapid adoption came as over 2 million Indian students now have free access to Google AI Pro through a special student offer.
The AI-powered tutor uses Socratic questioning methods instead of providing direct answers, encouraging students to develop critical thinking skills. Early results showed 95% of student users in India reporting feeling more confident after using Gemini, according to Google.

The goal: to secure a place among the top 20 AI hubs globally by 2035.

IndQA: OpenAI's First Cultural Benchmark Begins with Indian Languages

OpenAI introduced 'IndQA', a pioneering benchmark designed to test how effectively artificial intelligence (AI) systems comprehend India's diverse languages, cultural nuances, and contexts. The initiative marks a major step in enhancing AI's multilingual and multicultural understanding, beginning with one of the world's most linguistically rich regions.
Developed in collaboration with 261 domain experts across India, IndQA comprises 2,278 questions spanning 12 Indian languages and 10 cultural domains, including literature, food, history, spirituality, and daily life. Unlike conventional benchmarks such as MMMLU and MGSM, IndQA's content is "natively written" — not translated — ensuring authenticity in phrasing, intent, and cultural context.

Maharashtra Signs Landmark Deal with Starlink to Boost Rural Internet

The Maharashtra government signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Starlink, the satellite internet company led by Elon Musk, to deploy satellite-based internet services across the state. This move makes Maharashtra the first state in India to officially collaborate with the US-based internet provider.
Under this agreement, the state will work with Starlink to deliver reliable internet connectivity to government institutions, rural communities, and key public infrastructure. The project particularly targets remote and underserved districts like Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Washim, and Dharashiv — areas often left behind in traditional network coverage.
