V. S. Achuthanandan, Former Kerala CM Passes Away

Former Kerala Chief Minister and the icon of Communist movement V. S. Achuthanandan died at the age of 101.
A lifelong fighter for the rights of disadvantaged sections and a towering presence in state politics, Achuthanandan had withdrawn from public life after he suffered a minor stroke in 2019.
He had been the Leader of the Opposition from 2001 to 2006, when he had spearheaded the attack on the UDF government led by AK Antony. In 2006, he led the CPM-led Left Democratic Front to victory and served as Chief Minister till 2011.

Veteran Tamil Actor-Filmmaker Velu Prabhakaran Passes Away

Veteran Tamil director, cinematographer and actor Velu Prabhakaran passed away in Chennai. He was 68.
Velu Prabhakaran made his Tamil cinema debut as a cinematographer with the 1980 film Ivargal Vithyasamanavargal. In 1989, he transitioned to direction with his debut film Nalaya Manithan, starring Prabhu, Ajay Rathnam, Amala, and Jaishankar. That same year, he also stepped in front of the camera for the first time, acting in his own directorial venture Sariyana Jodi.

B. Saroja Devi was a leading actress in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi cinema from the 1950s to the 1970s. She appeared in over 190 films and was celebrated for her beauty, versatile acting, and graceful screen presence. She was considered one of the most iconic heroines of the golden era of Indian cinema.
Her contribution to Indian cinema earned her several prestigious awards, including the Padma Bhushan from the Government of India, recognising her lifetime achievement in films.

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari Passes Away

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari died at the age of 82.
Burari achieved a historic victory in 2015 after three failed attempts and became the country's first opposition candidate to defeat an incumbent President. He was re-elected for another four-year term in 2019.
During his time in office, Buhari had to deal with Nigeria's worst economic crisis in decades, influenced in part by a slump in global oil prices.

Veteran Telugu actor and former Andhra Pradesh MLA, Kota Srinivasa Rao, passed away at the age of 83. Rao was known for his versatility and powerful screen presence. Rao had a Telugu cinema and theatrical acting career spanning nearly four decades.
Rao made his debut in 1978 with the Telugu film Pranam Khareedu and went on to star in over 750 feature films across Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and other Indian languages. Known for his exceptional range, Rao received nine prestigious Nandi Awards in categories including villain, character actor, and supporting actor.
In 2015, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the country's fourth-highest civilian award, for his significant contribution to Indian cinema.
