'Choose France Tour 2024': Bridging Indian students with opportunities in France

  • Kicking off in Mumbai, the tour will visit Chandigarh, New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, showcasing over 50 esteemed French universities and higher education institutions.
  • This initiative by the French government, in collaboration with Campus France, aims to connect Indian talent with the academic excellence found in France.

Jharkhand Cabinet Approves Rs. 530 crore for New Colleges, Polytechnics Projects

  • The Jharkhand Cabinet approved a series of educational initiatives totalling Rs. 530 crore aimed at establishing new engineering colleges and polytechnics in the state. Key projects include the construction of the Government Polytechnic in Chakulia, Jamshedpur, estimated at Rs.134.18 crore; the Government Engineering College in Jamshedpur, with a budget of Rs. 254.93 crore; and another government polytechnic in Potka, Jamshedpur, costing Rs. 136.13 crore.
  • In addition to these projects, the cabinet sanctioned Rs. 42.83 crore for the second phase of the Netarhat Tourism Project and plans to establish institutes similar to the Netarhat Residential School in Kolhan, Santhal Pargana, and North Chotanagpur divisions.

SECL Becomes First Coal Company to Open Four AMRIT Pharmacies

  • South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Chhattisgarh-based subsidiary of Coal India, opened its fourth AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) Pharmacy, making it the first coal company to do so. This 216th AMRIT pharmacy, located at SECL's Health Centre in Indira Vihar Colony, Bilaspur, will provide generic and life-saving medicines at highly subsidised rates, benefiting SECL employees, the general public, and underserved tribal and rural communities. CBSE to Host National Summit on Bridging School to Work Transition

IIT-Kanpur Announces New Fellowship for Their PhD Students

  • The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) announced the launch of the Fellowship for Academic and Research Excellence (FARE), a new initiative to recognise and support exceptional PhD students who demonstrate outstanding academic and research capabilities. The fellowship aims to encourage the timely completion of doctoral studies while promoting high-quality research output.
  • The fellowship offers financial support for up to 12 months, with a stipend equivalent to that of the Institute, post-doctoral fellows, along with additional research-related grants. The current thesis supervisor will continue to serve as the mentor, although collaborations with other faculty members during the fellowship period will be allowed.
