Centre Clears 'One Nation One Subscription' for Access to Research Articles, Journals
Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central cabinet granted its approval to a new scheme named 'One Nation One Subscription' (ONOS) for providing country-wide access to scholarly research articles and journal publications.
As a central sector initiative, ONOS will enable nationwide access to a vast repository of high-impact research articles and journal publications.
The scheme aims to democratise academic and scientific knowledge, creating a fertile ground for research and innovation throughout the country.
A total of about Rs. 6,000 crore has been allocated for One Nation One Subscription for three calendar years, 2025, 2026 and 2027 as a new Central Sector Scheme (CSS).
The benefits of 'One Nation One Subscription' scheme will be provided to all higher educational institutions under the management of the Central or state government and research & development institutions of the Central government through a national subscription coordinated by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET), an autonomous inter-university centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

MATES Scheme: New Opportunity for Indians to Work in Australia (17)
Australia launched the Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES) scheme, offering Indian university graduates and early professionals the chance to work in Australia for up to two years. The scheme is part of the Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement (MMPA) between India and Australia. Applicants must have proficient English (IELTS 6 overall, 5 in each module) and have graduated within two years from top Indian universities. The program starts with 3,000 places annually, and participants can bring dependents with work rights.
MATES aims to encourage mutually-beneficial skills and knowledge transfer between Australia and India.

Centre Launches Rs. 500-crore Scheme to Boost Medical Device Industry
The Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, J. P. Nadda, launched the "Scheme for Strengthening the Medical Device Industry," aimed at boosting the sector and making India self-reliant in medical devices. The scheme, with a total outlay of Rs. 500 crore, covers critical areas such as manufacturing of key components, skill development, clinical studies, infrastructure development, and industry promotion. The event also saw the presence of Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel, Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals Arunish Chawla, and industry representatives.
The scheme is designed to strengthen the medical device sector in India by addressing infrastructure gaps, reducing import dependency, and building a skilled workforce. Union Cabinet Approves PM-Vidyalaxmi Scheme to Support Meritorious Students' Higher Education
The Union Cabinet approved the PM-Vidyalaxmi scheme, a new initiative aimed at ensuring that financial constraints no longer prevent talented students in India from pursuing quality higher education.
Through this scheme, eligible students who gain admission into accredited higher education institutions can access collateral-free, guarantor-free loans to cover tuition fees and other course-related expenses.
PM-Vidyalaxmi is designed to provide financial support to students admitted to the top 860 institutions across India, reaching more than 22 lakh students annually.
For loans up to Rs. 7.5 lakh, the Government of India will provide a 75 per cent credit guarantee, encouraging banks and financial institutions to expand their loan coverage.
The scheme will be managed via a fully digital, transparent, and student-friendly portal. Additionally, students from families with an annual income of up to Rs. 8 lakh can avail a 3 per cent interest subsidy for loans up to Rs. 10 lakh.s during the moratorium period, provided they do not qualify for any other government scholarship or subsidy.

Andhra Pradesh CM Launches Deepam 2.0 Scheme for Women
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu visited Edupuram in Srikakulam district to launch the Deepam 2.0 scheme, aimed at empowering women by providing them with free gas cylinders. During his visit, Naidu personally handed over a gas cylinder to a beneficiary, Santhamma, and even lit her stove, preparing tea as a gesture of support for the initiative.
The scheme aims to empower women by providing free access to clean cooking energy. Women will receive three free gas cylinders per year under the scheme. The initiative is part of Naidu's broader efforts to improve living conditions in Andhra Pradesh.
