Siddhalinga Pattanashetti Wins Gudleppa Hallikeri Award 2024

  • Poet and playwright Siddhalinga Pattanashetti was presented the prestigious Gudleppa Hallikeri Award for 2024 by the Gudleppa Hallikeri Memorial Foundation, Hosaritti (Haveri District), Karnataka. This was the 19th award and was presented in the honour of the birth anniversary of Gudleppa Hallikeri.

Indian American Bruhat Soma Wins 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee

  • Bruhat Soma, a 12-year-old Indian-American student, won the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee competition at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. He correctly spelt 29 words in the tiebreaker round. The Class 7 student recited a Shloka from Bhagavad Gita.
  • In the Spelling Bee contest, Bruhat Soma defeated Faizan Zaiki, who could only spell 20 words in the lightning round. After winning the competition, he said it was "a dream come true" moment.

NIMHANS Institute Receives Nelson Mandela Award from WHO

  • National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India was awarded with the Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion for 2024 by the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • NIMHANS director Dr. Pratima Murthy received the award during the plenary meeting of the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, in the presence of WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
  • Established by WHO in 2019, the Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion acknowledges individuals, institutions, and organizations that have made significant contributions to health promotion.

PFC Receives 'CSR Champion Award' at Outlook Planet Sustainability Summit & Awards 2024

  • Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (PFC) was honoured with the Corporate Social Responsibility award in the NF (Non-Fossil Fuel) business category at the Outlook Planet Sustainability Summit & Awards 2024, held in Goa. Chairperson & Managing Director, PFC, Smt. Parminder Chopra received the Award from Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Govt. of India, V. Major Radhika Sen of Himachal Pradesh Earns Prestigious UN Award

  • Major Radhika Sen, who hails from Himachal Pradesh, won the United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award.
  • A UN statement said she was working at the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).
  • Born in Himachal Pradesh in 1993, Major Radhika Sen joined the Army eight years ago. She graduated as a biotech engineer and was pursuing her post-graduation from IIT Bombay, when she decided to join the armed forces. Major Radhika Sen served in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) from March 2023 to April 2024 as the commander of MONUSCO's engagement platoon. She received the award from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
