Jasleen Kaur, a Scottish Sikh, Wins Prestigious Turner Prize

Jasleen Kaur, a Glasgow-born Scottish Sikh artist of Indian heritage, won the prestigious Turner Prize 2024 for her exhibition 'Alter Altar', which weaves together personal, political, and spiritual themes. She received the GBP 25,000 (approximately Rs. 27 lakh) award at a ceremony at Tate Britain in London.
The Turner Prize jury highlighted Kaur's evocative combination of sound and sculpture to address specifics of family memory and community struggle.

Indian Changemakers Award 2024

Indian Changemakers Award 2024 held in New Delhi felicitated the hidden talents and achievements of distinguished authors, writers, book publishers, schools, educators, businesses, brands, and individual personalities. Maria, whose career has been a testament to dedication and resilience, was chosen for this award for her outstanding efforts in transforming the healthcare landscape, particularly in the Philippine Army Health Services and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Three BHU Professors Win CNR Rao Award for Excellence in Scientific Research

Three distinguished faculty members from the Institute of Science at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) were selected for the esteemed Professor CNR Rao Education Foundation Award for Excellence in Research for the academic years 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25. This prestigious award honours scientists for their outstanding contributions to Pure and Applied Sciences, encompassing disciplines like Basic Sciences, Agriculture, Engineering, and Technology.
According to BHU, Professor Bhabani Prasad Mandal, a senior professor in the Department of Physics, was chosen for the 2022-23 session. Professor Krishna Nand Singh, head of the Department of Chemistry, was chosen as the recipient for 2023-24.
The award for 2024-25 will go to Professor Pratyoosh Shukla, professor and coordinator of the School of Biotechnology. Recipients of the award are presented with a citation and a cash prize.

Filmfare OTT Awards 2024 Celebrating Digital Excellence

The 5th edition of the Filmfare OTT Awards 2024 held in Mumbai was a grand celebration of the best in digital entertainment. Numerous celebrities, including actors, directors, showrunners, and technical crew, attended the awards ceremony. The event highlighted the outstanding contributions from both films and series in the OTT space, with notable achievements in various categories.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar led the charge with 16 nominations, followed by Guns & Gulaabs and Kaala Paani. The Railway Men clinched the coveted Best Series award, while Amar Singh Chamkila, directed by Imtiaz Ali, dominated the film category, sweeping multiple accolades. Notable stars like Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Ananya Panday received recognition for their exceptional performances.

National Awards for Indian Cement Industry

The 18^th NCB International Conference & Exhibition on Cement, Concrete, and Building Materials, concluded successfully at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, IICC Dwarka, New Delhi. Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Arti Bhatnagar, presented National Awards to the best participating cement plants in the field of energy excellence, improvement in energy performance, environment excellence, total quality excellence and achieving circular economy in integrated cement plants and energy and environment excellence in cement grinding units. She also complimented the Indian cement industry for being water positive and plastic negative.
