Irish Author Paul Lynch's 'Prophet Song' Wins Booker Prize 2023

Irish author Paul Lynch's 'Prophet Song' was named the winner of the Booker Prize 2023, beating London-based Indian-origin author Chetna Maroo's debut novel 'Western Lane', at a ceremony in London.
Lynch won for his novel presenting a dystopian vision of Ireland in the grips of totalitarianism, something the author describes as an attempt at radical empathy. Set in Dublin, 'Prophet Song' tells the story of a family grappling with a terrifying new world in which the democratic norms they are used to begin to disappear.
Lynch became the fifth Irish author to win the prestigious prize after Iris Murdoch, John Banville, Roddy Doyle and Anne Enright.

'Odh' Bags the Best Film Award at the '75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow' at 54th IFFI

The refreshing and thought provoking short film on receding beach lines of Goa, 'Odh' won the best film award at the 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow (CMOT) held at 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa.
Congratulating the winners, Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary (Films), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Managing Director, NFDC threw light on the importance of recognising true content in filmmaking which will place India at the global pedestal. The CMOT is the best platform for young creative minds across India who are driven into making films with good content.
As part of the Film Challenge, 75 CMOT participants were divided into five teams who made short films on the topic 'Mission Life' in 48 hours.

Zee Europe's Parul Goel Awarded Media Personality of the Year at Asian Business Awards 2023

Parul Goel, the Territory Head of ZEE Europe, was awarded the Media Personality of the Year at the Asian Business Awards 2023. Goel, who has been instrumental in expanding ZEE Entertainment's presence across the United Kingdom, received the award in the presence of United Kingdom Deputy PM Oliver Dowden, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, and top representatives of the business world.
A brainchild of the Solanki family, the Asian Business Awards celebrates and recognises the outstanding achievements of entrepreneurs and businesses within the Asian community.

Ishwak Singh won the Best Actor award at the Stars Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) for his performance in the film 'Berlin,' serving as a testament to the universal appeal of his work and highlighting not only his exceptional talent but also his dedication to his craft.
The film "Berlin" has not only gained acclaim for Ishwak Singh's outstanding portrayal but has also enjoyed successful screenings at several film festivals, such as the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and Jio MAMI 2023.

International Emmy Awards 2023

The International Emmy Awards 2023 took place in New York. After Ekta Kapoor, India received three nominations with Vir Das, Shefali Shah, Jim Sarbh contending for varied categories.
While Ekta was honoured with the International Emmy Directorate Award, Vir won an Emmy for his Netflix comedy special 'Vir Das: Landing'. He shared the award with 'Derry Girls Season 3'. Shefali Shah, who was competing in the Best Actress category, lost the Emmy to Karla Souza for 'La Cada [Dive]'. British actor Martin Freeman won the Best Actor award for 'The Responder'. He competed with Jim Sarbh, who was nominated for 'Rocket Boys'.

Madhuri Dixit Receives Award at 54th IFFI

In a momentous ceremony at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Bollywood luminary Madhuri Dixit was bestowed with the prestigious Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema award. The event, graced by renowned personalities including Vijay Sethupathi, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Sunny Deol, Karan Johar, and Shantanu Moitra, witnessed the celebration of Madhuri's illustrious four-decade-long career.
The 54th edition of IFFI commenced with a star-studded ceremony at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa, marking the beginning of a nine-day cinematic extravaganza. The festival's opening film, 'Catching Dust', directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Stuart Gatt, set the tone for the gala event.
