Warner Breaks Tendulkar's Record of most Centuries as Opener
Australian batter David Warner went past legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar and became the opener with the most number of centuries in international cricket.
Warner accomplished this milestone against South Africa in the second ODI.
In the match, Warner was at his vintage best, smashing 106 runs in just 93 balls, consisting of 12 fours and three sixes.
This was Warner's 46th international century, the most by an opener. He has 20 centuries in ODIs, 25 in Tests and one in T20Is.
He has gone past Tendulkar, who has scored 45 centuries in international cricket as an opener. All of Sachin's centuries as an opener have come in ODIs.
Goa Governor Launches 'Mashaal' For 37th National Games
Governor of Goa, P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, officially introduced the Mashaal (torch) to mark the commencement of the 37th National Games. This splendid event was organised by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa, at the Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan, Donapaula. The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Pramod Sawant, the Chief Minister, Govind Gaude, the Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Shripad Naik, the Minister of State for Tourism, and several other distinguished guests.
Governor Pillai also revealed the National Games' Anthem (theme song), which featured the iconic voice of the legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan. His participation added an element of grandeur and distinction to the occasion. What sets this Anthem apart is its incorporation of the traditional Goan instrument, the Ghumat, and the collaboration of Goan vocalists alongside other gifted artists.
Britain's Salisbury and Partner Ram Win Third Straight US Open Double Title
Britain's Joe Salisbury made US Open history alongside American partner Rajeev Ram with victory in the men's doubles final.
Salisbury and Ram became the first team to win the Flushing Meadows title three years in a row in the Open era by beating India's Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden of Australia 2-6 6-3 6-4.
It was a fourth grand slam crown for the duo and denied Bopanna a first major title at the age of 43.
Novak Djokovic Wins US Open for Record Equalling 24th Grand Slam
Novak Djokovic would not let Daniil Medvedev spoil his date with history a second time battling past the Russian 6-3 7-6(5) 6-3 to win the US Open and equalled Margaret Court's record haul of 24 Grand Slams.
The victory, his fourth in 10 Flushing Meadows finals, capped another remarkable Grand Slam campaign for Djokovic with wins at the Australian, French and US Opens and a return to the top of the world rankings.
The 36-year-old Serb became the oldest US Open men's winner in the Open Era and the first to win three Grand Slam events in a season for the fourth time.
Coco Gauff Wins US Open Women's Singles Final 2023
Coco Gauff joined the list of women's singles champions at US Open in the Open era with her come-from-behind victory over Aryna Sabalenka.
Since the beginning of the Open era (1968), Gauff is the 28th different women to have won the singles title at Flushing Meadows. She is the youngest American champion since Serena Williams in 1999.
USA's Chris Evert and Serena hold the record for most US Open titles (6) won by a woman followed by Steffi Graf (5).

Rohan Bopanna Becomes the Oldest Tennis player to Reach a Grand Slam Final in the Open Era
India's Rohan Bopanna became the oldest man in the Open era to reach the final of a Grand Slam as he reached the men's doubles title clash in the 2023 US Open. Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden beat Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 in the semi-finals at the Louis Armstrong Stadium. It marked the second time that the 43-year-old Bopanna reached the men's doubles final in a Grand Slam, with the previous occasion being in the 2010 US Open in which he reached the title clash with Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.

In Table Tennis, Indian men's team finished with a bronze medal at the Asian Table Tennis Championships 2023 following a semi-final defeat to Chinese Taipei in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The Indian men's table tennis team comprising Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran lost 0-3 in their final four matches.
