Vishnu Prasad Versatile Malayalam Actor Passed Away

Renowned Malayalam actor Vishnu Prasad, known for his compelling performances in negative roles, passed away at the age of 52.
Vishnu Prasad was known for his compelling performances in both cinema and television. His film credits include notable roles in Kasi (2001), the Tamil remake of Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, Kaiyethum Doorath (2002), Runway (2004), Lion (2006), Mambazhakkalam (2004), Ben Johnson (2005), Lokanathan IAS (2005), and Pathaka (2006). He also had a significant presence on Malayalam television, earning admiration for his versatile acting and commitment to his craft.

Ex-Union Minister Girija Vyas Dies

Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister Girija Vyas died in Ahmedabad. She was 79.
Vyas was a prominent Congress leader who served as a minister in both the state and central government. She was also the Pradesh Congress Committee chief. She also served as the chairperson of the National Commission for Women.
In 2013, she was appointed Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation in the Manmohan Singh government.

Legendary Malayalam Filmmaker Shaji N. Karun Passes Away

Legendary Malayalam filmmaker and cinematographer Shaji N. Karun, known for his pathbreaking films and distinctive style of movie making, passed away. He was 73.
One of the pioneers of new wave cinema in Malayalam, Shaji Neelakantan Karunakaran, popularly known as Shaji N. Karun, was among the few filmmakers who took the legacy of Malayalam cinema to the international audience breaking all the barriers.
A recipient of the Padma Shri and the French honour "Order of Arts and Letters," Karun was the premiere chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy.
He also served as the chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC).

Muttayil Govinda Sankara Narayanan Passes Away

Muttayil Govinda Sankara Narayanan, popularly known as MGS Narayanan, a towering figure in Indian historiography, passed away at the age of 92.
Narayanan carved out a space for an academic understanding of Kerala's ancient past through his works. He was the member secretary and Chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR).
MGS also worked with the South Indian History Congress, the Epigraphical Society of India, the Place Name Society of India, the Rock Art Society of India and the Numismatic Society of South India.
An author of 200 books and articles, Narayanan has published 112 research papers alone in national and international journals, and participated in several workshops, and seminars, in India and abroad.

Former ISRO Chairman K. Kasturirangan Passes Away

Former ISRO Chairman and visionary scientist K. Kasturirangan passed away at the age of 84, in Bengaluru. He was one of the most respected figures in India's scientific and educational landscape.
K. Kasturirangan served as the fifth Chairman of ISRO from 1994 to 2003, concurrently holding the position of Secretary, Department of Space, for over nine years. His association with ISRO spanned four decades, during which he was at the helm of several landmark missions and pivotal institutional developments.
For his immense contributions, Kasturirangan was awarded all three of India's top civilian honours: Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.
