As Tensions with Russian Rise, NORAD Conducts Air, Missile Defence Operation
The North American Aerospace Defense Command, better known as NORAD, conducted exercises in the Far North.
Dubbed 'Operation Noble Defender', the exercises were an arctic air defence operation involving military aircraft and personnel from Canada and the United States.
This recurring operation was designed to confirm the Canadian NORAD Region's capabilities to respond to both aircraft and cruise missiles threatening North America.

Karnataka CM Vows to Make Bengaluru a Defence Hub
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that Bengaluru will evolve as a major hub of defence research and products catering to the needs of not only India but also of its friendly nations.
Bommai participated in the inaugural event of the seven-storeyed Flight Control System (FCS) Integration facility at Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) in Bengaluru.
Developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the facility was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Bommai appealed to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for all the support from the Union government and ministry of defence to develop the defence hub which could meet not only the defence needs of India but also of its friendly nations.

M. A. Ganapathy is NSG Chief, Kuldiep Singh to Head CRPF
Senior IPS officer M. A. Ganapathy, who hails from Karnataka, was appointed as the Director General of the elite National Security Guard (NSG).
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleared Ganapathy's appointment.
The ACC also appointed Kuldiep Singh, a 1986 batch IPS officer of the West Bengal cadre, as the Director General of CRPF. He is presently the Special DG in CRPF.
Ganapathy was appointed as the head of NSG "from the date of joining the post and up to February 29, 2024, i.e. date of his superannuation, or till further orders, whichever is earlier.
Ganapathy is also a recipient of the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2010.

BRO Signs MoU with GRSE for Construction of 70 Modular Bridges in Border Areas
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of 27 carriageway double-lane class 70 modular bridges in border areas.
The MoU includes fabrication, supply, erection, and launching of 27 double-lane bridges of carriageway 7.5 meters of load class 70 along with the Northern and North Eastern border states.
The two-year contract, worth around Rs. 60 crore, was inked by Director General BR Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry and Officiating Chairman and Managing Director of GRSE Commodore P.R. Hari.
