Odisha's First Tribal CM Hemananda Biswal Passes Away

Odisha's first tribal Chief Minister as well as last Congress Chief Minister of the state, Hemananda Biswal passed away. He was 82. Biswal, a Bhuyan tribal from Jharsuguda district, served as the Chief Minister twice from 1989 to 1990 and 1999 to 2000. In December 1999, he was again made Chief Minister after erstwhile chief minister Giridhari Gamang was replaced over his failure in relief and rehabilitation measures in the aftermath of the 1999 super cyclone that ripped through the Odisha coast.
Biswal began his political journey as a chairman of Kirimira panchayat Samiti in the Jharsuguda district. He was elected to the Odisha assembly for the first time in 1974 from Laikera constituency. He was elected to the assembly as MLA six times from the same seat. In 2009 he was elected as an MP from Sundargarh.

D2H Ropes in Rishabh Pant as its Brand Ambassador

Dish TV India Limited's DTH brand D2H, brought Rishabh Pant on board as its new brand ambassador. The cricketer will feature in 360-degree brand communication for the next two years. "Our brands are our biggest strength. The close affinity between the D2H brand and Rishabh Pant as brand ambassador will enable deeper engagement of D2H with its target group," Anil Dua, executive director and group CEO, Dish TV India Ltd, said about the association.
Dish TV India Limited is a direct-to-home (DTH) company with brands such as Dish TV, Zing and D2H under its ownership. The company operates using multiple satellite platforms including SES-8, GSAT-15, and ST-2 and has a bandwidth capacity of 1134 MHz. D2H with a range of channel selection aims towards a around the clock customer support. The DTH brand, to target a larger audience base, has expanded its service to regional channels, educational channels and active services, for customers among various age groups, like fitness active, dance active, thriller active, comedy active and kids active, among others.

Veteran Malayalam Actress KPAC Lalitha Dies

Legendary Malayalam actor KPAC Lalitha, passed away. She was 74.
Born in February 1947 in the Alappuzha district, Lalitha made her mark as a theatre artist before foraying into cinema and emerging as one of the finest actors across south cinema, most popularly in Malayalam.
She had starred in over 550 films and has two National Awards to her credit. Most popular for playing roles of a mother, she made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Kootukudumbam.
In 2000, she won the National Award for best supporting role for the movie Shantham.
She has six state awards to her name. These include her performances in films such as Neelaponman, Aaravam, Amaram, Kadinjool Kalyanam, Godfather and Sandesham.

Thums Up Ropes in Shahrukh Khan as New Brand Ambassador

Beverage major Coca-Cola signed Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador for Thums Up.
Earlier, Khan was associated with rival cola brand, Pepsi, for a long period of time and this is his first big endorsement after the controversy involving his son Aryan Khan in a drug case last year.
The new commercial for Thums Up featuring Khan, will have an integrated campaign across TV, social, digital, shopper, and OOH platforms.
Thums Up, which became a billion dollar brand in 2021, has partnership with the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and cricket.

Andhra Minister Goutham Reddy Passes Away

Andhra Pradesh IT and Industries Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy passed away.
He was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly representing the Atmakur assembly constituency of Nellore district.
He was first elected as MLA from Atmakur in 2014 and then in 2019. He became a minister in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy after YSRCP came to power in 2019.

Noted Kannada Writer and Poet Chennaveera Kanavi Passes Away

Eminent Kannada literatteur Chennaveera Kanavi passed away at the age of 94.
Born on June 29, 1928 at Hombal village in Gadag district to Sakkarappa, a school teacher, and Parvatavva, a homemaker, Kanavi had his initial schooling in the village and then he completed his higher education in Dharwad.
Kanavi penned more than 15 books, which were compilation of poems, collection of essays and various other books.
The litterateur had won the Sahitya Akademi award for his book 'Jeevadhwani'. Besides, he received the Rajyotsava Award, Pampa Award, Nadoja title, Nrupathunga award, Sahitya Bangara Award and several other awards.
Kanavi was one of the most creative writers of Kannada literary world.
