  • Rafiq Tarar, a veteran Pakistani politician and former Supreme Court judge who served as the country's President from 1997 to 2001, passed away. He was 92.
  • Tarar had served as Pakistan President after being nominated by the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Former Army Chief SF Rodrigues Passes Away

  • Former Indian Army Chief Gen SF Rodrigues (retd) died at the age of 88 at his home in Alto Porvorim, Goa.
  • He was the Chief of the Indian Army from 1990 to 1993. He was appointed the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh in November 2004, and remained in office till 2010.
  • In addition to his more than 40 years in the Indian Army, he served two terms on the National Security Advisory (NSA) Board.

Mukul Arya, India's Representative in Palestine Passes Away

  • Mukul Arya, India's representative at Ramallah in Palestine, passed away.
  • Palestinian leadership also expressed shock at the death of Mukul Arya at his workplace.
  • Arya, a career diplomat, served at the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi, in addition to serving at the Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO in Paris and at the Embassies of India in Kabul and Moscow.
  • He was raised and educated in Delhi, studied Economics at Delhi University and JNU, before joining the Indian Foreign Service in 2008.

Australian Cricket Legend Shane Warne Passes Away

  • Australian spin bowler Shane Warne died at the age of 52. He passed away in Koh Samui, Thailand, of 'a suspected heart attack.'
  • Warne, who made his cricket debut, played 145 Tests for Australia and picked up 708 wickets. In his 194 ODI appearances, Warne pared 293 scalps.
  • Warne had retired from all formats of cricket in July 2013. He was regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in the history of cricket.
  • Warne's stellar international career spanned across 15 years and saw him take 708 Test wickets — the most ever for an Australian, and the second-most of all time behind only Muttiah Muralitharan. He was inducted in ICC Hall of Fame in 2013.

  • Chouksey has penned scripts and dialogues for several films including 'Shayad' (1979), 'Qatl' (1986) and 'Bodyguard' (2011), and was also involved in writing for television serials.
