Geetanjali Shree's Translation 'Tomb of Sand' Nominated for International Booker Prize

  • Author Geetanjali Shree's translated Hindi novel "Tomb of Sand" is among 13 books long-listed for the International Booker Prize. It is the first Hindi language work of fiction to make it to the long list of the prestigious literary prize. The book was originally published as 'Ret Samadhi' and translated into English by Daisy Rockwell. It will compete for the GBP 50,000 prize, which is split evenly between the author and translator.

Sharad Pawar unveiled Ratnakar Shetty's Autobiography "On Board: My Years in BCCI"

  • A book titled "On Board: My Years in BCCI", an autobiographical account of Ratnakar Shetty's experiences as an administrator. The book was released by Sharad Pawar, the former president of the MCA, BCCI and International Cricket Council. Shetty, a Chemistry professor by profession, went on to be the BCCI's first Chief Administrative Officer after serving the Mumbai Cricket Association in various capacities.

  • A new book on the life and times of Soli Sorabjee, the former Attorney General of India, will hit the stands in April 2022.
  • The authorised biography, titled "Soli Sorabjee: Life and Times", is chronicled by advocate and legal scholar Abhinav Chandrachud. March 9 marked the 92nd birth anniversary of the legal luminary.
  • It claims to reveal personal details of Sorabjee's life, his family background, his journey in becoming a practitioner of law to a UN human rights rapporteur and repeatedly defending the fundamental right to free speech and expression in the Supreme Court.

The book was published by Penguin Random House India (PRHI).
  • The 74-year-old pop icon, who completed 50 years as a professional singer in 2020, is widely known for evergreen hits such as "Hari Om Hari", "Rambha Ho" and "Jeete Hain Shaan Se". She has sung in several Indian and foreign languages including Bengali, Hindi, English, German, Italian and Sinhalese.
