Hardeep Singh Puri Launches Book 'The Reverse Swing: Colonialism to Cooperation'

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India, Hardeep Singh Puri launched a book titled 'The Reverse Swing: Colonialism to Cooperation' authored by Ashok Tandon.
The book showcases New India's march to glory leaving behind the unfortunate and painful memories of foreign subjugation spanning several centuries. The author has penned down the historical events and the transformations in the Indo-UK relations since independence, not with a view to reopen the wounds of colonial rule but to enlighten the present generations, particularly the large Indian Diaspora, with what India had to undergo prior to independence in 1947 and how it has excelled in various sectors to become world's fifth largest economy and earned a pride of place in the comity of nations.
Ashok Tandon is a veteran Indian journalist, columnist, and political commentator with over 50 years of experience in print journalism, media relations, and media academics. Tandon oversaw Media Relations in Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's PMO (1998-2004) in the rank of Additional Secretary and later joined as Professor and Director, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism & Communication at its NOIDA Campus. In the UK, Tandon was twice President of the Indian Journalists' Association, Europe (IJA).

Vivek Agnihotri, director of 'The Kashmir Files' launched his latest book, 'The Book of Life: My Dance with Buddha for Success' in Lucknow. He also directed a medical drama film 'The Vaccine War' in 2023. Balram Bhargava is the writer of the book on which the movie is based. Bhargava's book, 'Going Viral – Making of Covaxin: The Inside Story', documents his experiences.

London-based Indian-origin author Chetna Maroo's debut novel 'Western Lane' was shortlisted for the 2023 Booker Prize.
Kenya-born Maroo's novel set within the context of the British Gujarati milieu was praised by the Booker judges for its use of the sport of squash as a metaphor for complex human emotions. It revolves around the story of an 11-year-old girl named Gopi and her bond with her family.

'Fire on the Ganges Life among the Dead in Banaras' by Radhika Iyengar

Radhika Iyengar is the author of the book 'Fire on the Ganges: Life among the Dead in Banaras,' released by HarperCollins. The book explores the city of Banaras (also known as Varanasi) in India, particularly its relationship with death and the afterlife. Fire on the Ganges is the first attempt to chronicle the everyday realities of the Doms in Banaras. Through their tales of struggle and survival, betrayal and love, it tells the at-times-heartbreaking, at-times-exhilarating story of a community struggling to find a place beyond that accorded to it by ancient tradition.
Radhika Iyengar is an award-winning journalist with a Master's degree in journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, New York. She won the Red Ink award for Excellence in Indian Journalism (2018). In 2020, she was awarded the Charles Wallace India Trust fellowship at University of Kent, UK. She received the Bianca Pancoat Patton Fellowship in 2019 and was a recipient of the Sanskriti-Prabha Dutt Fellowship (2016–17).
