Senior Advocate M. C. Bhandare Releases Memoirs Titled 'The Arc of Memory'

  • Former Congress politician, Governor of Odisha and veteran lawyer Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare released his memoirs titled 'The Arc of Memory' in the presence of family, friends and members of the legal fraternity at the India International Centre in Delhi.
  • 'The Arc of Memory' is a labour of love that began as Bhandare's communication to his late wife and former Delhi High Court judge Justice Sunanda Bhandare.

'Phool Bahadur' The First Magahi Novel in English

  • The Dibrugarh University International Literary Festival held in March 2024 witnessed the launch of a remarkable literary work – the English translation of the first Magahi novel, 'Phool Bahadur'. The translation was done by Abhay. K, a renowned writer from Nalanda, Bihar.
  • 'Phool Bahadur' was originally written by Jayanath Pati and published in 1928. Despite being the first Magahi novel, it failed to gain much popularity among readers initially. However, it has now been rediscovered and is gaining fame thanks to Abhay. K's English translation. The translator stumbled upon this literary gem while editing 'The Book of Bihari Literature'.
  • Published by Penguin Random House India, 'Phool Bahadur' is a delightful novel set in the town of Biharsharif in Nalanda district of Bihar. The story revolves around the ambitious Mukhtar Samlal, and explores the harmonious yet exploitative relationships between a Nawab, a courtesan, and a circle officer. Each character tries to manipulate the others, with Mukhtar's sole goal being to acquire the title of Rai Bahadur.

Book on Patent Law by Justice Prathiba M. Singh

  • Delhi High Court judge, Justice Prathiba M. Singh's book on Patent Law was launched by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, along with other foreign dignitaries. The book, published by Thomson Reuters, was launched at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan.
  • The book, spanning over 2,600 pages across two volumes, serves as a commentary on Patent Law and draws from approximately 500 legal decisions.
  • Justice Prathiba M Singh began writing the book in 2013 when she was designated as a Senior Advocate. Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Senior Advocate Harish Salve played key roles in encouraging Justice Singh to undertake this monumental task.
