IIT Madras Hosts Book Launch of '100 Great IITians - Dedicated to the Service of the Nation'

Business Wire India IIT Madras, organised a prestigious felicitation ceremony and book launch of "100 Great IITians – Dedicated to the Service of the Nation". The book is a tribute to the remarkable contributions made by IITians to the growth of India.
The general impression about IITians is that after passing out they decide to settle abroad. Commander VK Jaitly, who himself is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, wanted to break this perception. He researched and toiled for more than four years and compiled the stories of 100 great IITians who have dedicated their lives for the nation. These IITians either didn't go abroad or even if they did, they came back to their motherland to serve the nation. The IITians featured in this book are from diverse fields like Academics, Industry, R&D, DRDO, ISRO, Defense, Adventure and even Spiritual and Social Sectors.
The event was organised in the AMM Arunachalam Auditorium at ICSR with the full support from the Director of IIT Madras, Prof. V. Kamakoti. Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director Designate of IIT Guwahati steered the function in an excellent way and with total punctuality. The President of IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation India, Rajah Venkat graced the occasion along with many other IITians, students and veterans from defense services.

A Book Titled "The Winner's Mindset," Authored by Shane Watson

In his book, "The Winner's Mindset," Watson shares the insights and strategies that enabled him to conquer his fears and reach new heights in his cricketing career. While the book is not an autobiography in the traditional sense, it serves as a powerful self-help guide, offering readers a glimpse into the mindset that propels individuals to success.
In late 2014, the cricketing world witnessed one of its greatest tragedies unfold on the field. Shane Watson, the talented Australian all-rounder, was among the players present at the Sydney Cricket Ground when Phillip Hughes was struck by a bouncer during a Sheffield Shield match. The promising opener, who had represented Australia in 26 Tests and 25 ODIs, tragically passed away two days later.
This traumatic incident left a profound impact on Watson, as he grappled with the fear that the same fate could befall him – all it could take is just one ball. However, Watson overcame this emotional turmoil and emerged as an even better cricketer, a testament to his resilience and mental fortitude.

EAM Jaishankar Receives Book 'India's Nuclear Titans'

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar received a copy of the book 'India's Nuclear Titans,' edited by Soumya Awasthi and Shrabana Barua. The book traces the evolution of India into a nuclear state while highlighting the pivotal roles played by renowned figures like Homi Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai, Abdul Kalam, and K. Subrahmanyam, among others.
Upon receiving the book, Jaishankar emphasised the importance of recognising the contributions of these nuclear titans by the emerging generations. He expressed the significance of acknowledging their pioneering efforts in shaping India's nuclear program.
The book "India's Nuclear Titans" aims to provide a comprehensive yet concise overview of India's nuclear journey. It explores the challenges and milestones encountered along the way, as the country transformed into a nuclear state.

Boria Majumdar Launches His New book 'Banned: A Social Media Trial'

Having endured a vicious trial by social media following allegations by a cricketer and a subsequent two-year ban from covering the sport that adversely impacted the mental and emotional well-being of his entire family, celebrated sports journalist and acclaimed author and historian, Boria Majumdar finally launched his side of the story with a no holds-barred account of the entire controversy through his new book 'Banned: A Social Media Trial'.
The book, which was officially launched, also highlights the support the author received from India's first individual Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra and renowned badminton coach and 2001 All England champion Pullela Gopichand during the trying time.
