World Homoeopathy Day

  • Every year on April 10, World Homeopathy Day honors the memory of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy. The day also challenges understanding and strategies that will further develop homeopathy.
  • According to the Homeopathy Research Institute (HRI), 200 million people around the world use homeopathy regularly. Half of these people are in India. There are 200,000 registered homeopathic doctors in India, with 12,000 doctors added each year.
  • Theme of World Homeopathy Day 2022 was 'Homoeopathy : People's Choice for Wellness'.

World Health Day

  • World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated on the 7th April every year. Every year, World Health Day focuses on contemporary health issues that require immediate attention, with varied themes. On World Health Day 2022, World Health Organisation will focus global attention on urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being. The World Health Organization has done its part to raise awareness about health and health-related concerns, as well as how to address them.
  • The theme for World Health Day 2022 was 'Our Planet, Our Health'. This year's theme aims to direct global attention toward the well-being of our planet and the humans living in it.
  • The World Health Organization (WHO) convened the first World Health Assembly in 1948, which called for the establishment of a "World Health Day." The first World Health Day was held on April 7, 1950, and it has been observed on that date every year thereafter. The main goal of the day is to raise awareness about a certain health topic in order to highlight a World Health Organization priority area of concern.

International Day of Sport for Development and Peace 2022

  • The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) is observed globally on April 6. To raise awareness of this potential, 6 April was declared as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) by the UN General Assembly. The adoption of this Day signifies the increasing recognition by the UN of the positive influence that sport can have on the advancement of human rights, and social and economic development.
  • The global theme of IDSDP 2022 is, "Securing a Sustainable and Peaceful Future for All: The Contribution of Sport," which creates an opportunity for the Day's celebrations to promote the use of sport as a tool to advance human rights and sustainable development. Under this theme, UN Headquarters in New York will recognize the role of sport in addressing the climate crisis and will highlight actions to lower greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate against climate change.

National Maritime Day 2022

  • National Maritime Day in India is observed on April 5 every year. This year (2022) was the 59th edition of the National Maritime Day.
  • National Maritime Day was first celebrated on April 5, 1964. The saga of Indian shipping first started on April 5, 1919, when the SS Loyalty, the first ship of The Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd travelled from Mumbai to the United Kingdom (London). On this day an award called "Varuna" is conferred to those who made an outstanding contribution to the Indian maritime sector.
  • The theme of the National Maritime Day 2022 was "Sustainable Shipping beyond Covid-19''.

International Day of Mine Awareness

  • The United Nations' International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is celebrated every year on the 4th of April. The day aims to raise awareness about landmines and progress toward their eradication. "Mine action" refers to a range of efforts to clear landmines and explosive remnants of war and to mark and fence off dangerous areas.
  • In 2022 the United Nations Mine Action Service marked the Day under the theme "Safe Ground, Safe Steps, Safe Home." The focus of the observance is on the impressive achievements of the global mine action community, starting with the work of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL).
