The day aims to encourage people to follow a healthy lifestyle irrespective of their body type and shape and raise awareness about the dangers of dieting.
A blue ribbon is used as a symbol for the day which celebrates body diversity and acceptance.
In 1992, English feminist Mary Evans Young started International No Diet Day with the aim of helping people around the world to accept their natural body type.
Evans was a victim of anorexia (an eating disorder), body image issues, and bullying.

International Firefighters' Day

The aim World Asthma Day of the day is raising awareness of asthma and how it affects sufferers. The day falls on the first Tuesday in May each year and aims to raise support for sufferers and their families. World Asthma Day 2022 is on May 3rd. World Asthma Day was launched in conjunction with the first World Asthma Meeting in Barcelona, and has grown to become the biggest international asthma event.

World Tuna Day Observed on May 2
World Tuna Day is observed globally on May 2 every year. This day was established by the United Nations (UN) to raise awareness about the importance of tuna fish. Tuna is a significant source of food for humans as the fish has several rich qualities such as Omega 3, Vitamin B12, proteins and other minerals.
Tuna is mainly procured for two things namely traditional canned Tuna and Sashimi/Sushi. World Wildlife Fund (WWF), environmental groups have now warned the fisheries and Tuna now falls under endangered species. This day aims at spreading awareness about the overfishing of Tuna and the importance of maintaining the ecosystem and the food chain.
In the year 2016, the General Assembly of the UN declared May 2 as World Tuna Day to spread awareness among people regarding the importance of conserving Tuna fish. In the past few years, the population of Tuna fish has declined by more than 97 per cent due to overfishing and Illegal fishing. So, to save Tuna from getting extinct, the UN announced a special day and appealed to people to conserve Tuna.

World Laughter Day (First Sunday of May)
World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year. In 1998, the first celebration took place in Mumbai, India. It was arranged by Dr. Madan Kataria founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement.

Gujarat Day
It is a state holiday in Gujarat. The state of Gujarat was formed on 1 May 1960. This day is marked as a holiday in Gujarat. This day is honoured by the people of Gujarat as it marks the remembrance of the struggle done by people to have a separate state of Gujarat. Two new states were born on this day of the year 1960 namely Maharashtra and Gujarat Day.
According to the Bombay Reorganisation Act, 1960 the bilingual state of Bombay was divided into two separate states Maharashtra for Marathi-speaking people and Gujarat for Gujarati-speaking people where Gujarat was established as the 15th state of the Indian Union.
